One can only hope that Mr OBE's replacement, Mr Hill, remembers that his museum is the oldest railway station in the world, and continues the revival of bringing real rail exhibits into the site.

No doubt the railway orientated employees at MOSI are adept at managing their managers

Not knocking it, but what was the purpose of this royal train trip ?
There was no national tv coverage and Tornado's pulling of the train seemed to have little to do with the purpose of Charles visit to Manchester ?

How much cheaper would the trip had been if Charles had traveled by First Class pendolino, or flight from London and then had a ride behind the MOSI's Planet replica ? for the much the same level of publicity ?

I guess with the train, they can travel up the evening before, and then have a comparitively short trip in the morning, and then after the visit, back on the train. It's got to be must be more secure than public transport, but this does not answer the questions as to why Tornado was used, unless Charles does like the idea of steam haulage.

The purpose - inter alia ..............

was for Big Ears to lecture us on the futility of being sceptical about Global Warming being a man made phenomenum

For this he came to Manchester by steam train

You couldn't write it could you????

Although it didn't make national it was certainly on the regional news. Regarding tornado I about as clueless on the issue. Charles and Camilla only arrived on the royal train. The manchester evening news video on the manchester visit explains this better.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2zilzrbfjI

It made sense in some respects to arrive by rail as He was visiting MOSI as part of His engagements and Corrie is only next door.

    Regards
