Been in Bury tonight, the weather is clear and cold but crisp, wrap up warm. It has not snowed, but there may be a bit of frost about as the temperature is a little below freezing. There is no snow forecast either as far as I know until at least Monday. Finally, enjoy the weekend.

I went along to the nightshoot tonight which went well though a little late starting. I will post up a few photos later or tomorrow. As to the weather, flippin' freezing, some of the photters were complaining of frost forming on the camera lens, mine packed up for a short while so it was a case of battery out and camera stuffed inside my fleece and coat!

Well done to the ELR and the volunteers who stayed late have hopefully thawed out now.

    Thanks, Neil.

Just heading back to Heywood behind 30777. Fantastic weather here today and packed trains too - they had to add extra coaches to cope with demand. Had a storming run behind the jinty earlier, the crew seemed to be really enjoying it! Well done to the ELR for putting on another fantastic event.

    Well done ELR :)

Missed the night shoot - but today was great. Good to see the event was popular and the trains so busy. Met some nice Nat Pres people at Burrs. Lovely day out ! :)

Sounds as though you had a good day today John, I didn't manage to get out today and it looks as though I missed the good weather.

Here are a few from last night, I haven't had chance to label them yet though:-

As stated earlier, sets had to be strengthened during the day....70013 and 30777 are only at the ELR for the weekend, so if you get the chance, go and enjoy.

BR Green stars at the ELR 20 February 2010

Following Ian Riley's appointment as CME of the East Lancashire Railway, the roster for this weekend's gala moved from famine to feast in terms of serious large BR steam locos. Headlining was ELR resident the Duke of Gloucester on its first day of public service after nearly a year in the works, but the visit of both of the NRM/5305 LA engines must have taken some fixing. It was wonderful to have both Oliver Cromwell and Sir Lamiel to make a trio of BR express passenger steam. The large numbers of passengers and the size of the galleries on the stations suggested that the bold hiring strategy was paying off.

An excellent Steam Gala today with nice weather, may i give my thanks to the many East Lancashire Railway Volunteers and Staff who made it possible, plus the Great Central Railway/5305 LA for sending Oliver Cromwell/Sir Lamiel to the gala (both brilliant), 44871 looks superb in her newly outshopped BR Black livery, 47324 may be one of the smaller engines there but she certainly has some pelt, 71000 seemed on fine form too for her return.

    Thankyou

Enjoyable day today, congrats and thanks to all involved! Nice to see the full array of advertised steam power out and about and, unusually, trains running on time throughout! I only took a few photos because the sun was being tricky as per but they can be found on my fotopic:

Very nice photos from the others in this thread who seem to have caught the sun more often than I did!

Took a client for work today for a full line trip which he enjoyed immensley, so not to many pictures from today (still to be posted) but hope the weather is good tomorrow and hoping to go line side
I would like to thank all the station staff and guards who helped me today with my client, it really made his day
    Cheers John

Great day yesterday especially after the weather improved in the afternoon. My video including a few shots of Fridays photo shoot now uploaded to YouTube. Thanks to all at the ELR for an excellent gala and especially Nigel Valentine and the volunteers for the photo shoot on Friday evening in bitterly cold temperatures.

Brilliant day yesterday with some wonderful sunshine in the afternoon. Really enjoyed my first day of being lineside. May I give my thanks to the NRM/5305 LA for sending 70013 & 30777, all the volunteers & staff, and of course Ian Riley for putting on a superb show.

A brilliant day out yesterday starting / finishing at Heywood.

Totally agree with the previous postings regarding the helpful/friendly attitude of the loco crews and staff.

Great to see 71000, 70013 posed at Heywood first thing followed by 44871, 70013 on the afternoon - thanks!

    By the afternoon I think the sets were 2 x load 7 and x 1 x load 5.

44871 performed brilliant and the pairings of 44781/70013 and 70013/30777 up to Heywood were just too good to miss.

From the people on the trains and stations I hope it was as successful financially as it loooked.

A big thank you to Andy Coward, Ian Riley and all those involved at the ELR for a superb day out, cannot wait for the Autumn event.

    Best Regards
