  4. having seen lyd in the flesh get the feeling that its a model engineers loco I'm not knocking the quality of the work as i know the lads who work on it very well the rivets and buts and bolts are all in there right places! surely a ng15 would of been better to overhaul

    As much as I like the NG15s, they can wait.

    Why are all the haters suddenly coming out of the wood work?

    The only reason it feels funny is because it is absulutely brand spanking new. After a few years it will have a patina all of its own; I don't hear anyone knocking Taliesin or Corris No.7 much these days. Try thinking that this is just what the original L & B engines looked like direct from the manufacturers, and that once upon a time such deliveries were an everyday part of the railway scene

    You'd prefer the rivets, nuts and bolts to be in the wrong places? And we are restoring an NG15. Keep up, lad.

    The current plan is that Lyd's first public steaming will take place at Boston Lodge on Sunday May 2nd with the lighting up scheduled for 1030.

    Another good reason to attend the FR's Quirks and Curiosities weekend.

  17. no as i think they where laser cut! i was thinking more welding and fabricating certain items this allso greatly reduces the costs too

    They were laser cut. I don't really see these components you think could be fabricated.
    I suppose the cab could be welded rather than rivited, but it just wouldn't look right.
