I believe she is having work done to bring her back up to mainline standard (boiler tube related?), when she ran on the SVR earlier this year she was only suitable for preserved line working to the extent she was delivered by low loader. I don't think she is too far off as she was an outside contender at one point for the ELR gala and the group are looking for mainline work for her in 2010 according to Heritage Railway.

There has been cylinder work done on it as well as firebox repairs and a re-tube it will probably appear towards Christmas time.

Did they ever sort the problems with the exhaust steam injector? When I was loosely involved they were having problems with it.

Loco has been in steam, and is scheduled out on trials on the ELR during this week. There are FXP's on the ELR this week on Thursday and Friday with 30777 and 70013 so it is presumed that the lcoo will operate alongside these.

UK Steam has the Duke down as one of the pool of pacifics for the North Wales Coast Express's on 8th and 22nd August. Fingers crossed to see 71000 on the route it commonly ran for BR.

I was out for a run behind 71000 yeaterday at the ELR's steam gala, she was fair thrashing along on the climb up to Heywood, the beat sounded very good.

Also likely to run on a Scarborough Flyer, now that will be the one to be on, a far more testing run than to Holyhead, and with the more interesting destination choices as well.

UK Steam now shows 71000 greyed out for the potential tours through to August including Scab Flyer and NWCE.

Given the general reluctance by some parties to see engines with large coupled wheels transported by road, is this the first time 71000 has been so transported?
As an aside, 60163 will need to travel by road to the Mid Hants.

As it was initially restored at the GCR it would have had to leave there by road.

As far as I know it's already been there and got there by rail! Think you mean the Great Central or the Bluebell!
