It says there'll be a return of the "Pick up Goods", does anyone know what this will entail, as I don't remember the original!

I think they did it with the Q6 at last years 1960's gala, basicly the siding behind the maildrop at quorn.

yeah it will be the mixed freight set timetabled to drop back into Quorn sidings. Will probably be 47406 powering it at an educated guess.

1960's with Leander in 1930's LMS and Tornado in 1948 Apple Green . I know it's pedantic but should we not make a little effort as far as history goes

As opposed to the 1940s weekends up and down the country which tend to feature a lineup of locos in BR livery on mk1s?

Equally valid point although to an extent the engines and stock become mere sideshows when you look at the 1940's attire

Hoping to be there on the Saturday. Try and get a ride behind Tornado over the full length of the line, but know that every train that Tornado hauls will be jammed packed! But if that fails at least I have 80072, the Jinty, Leander and a Black 5 to ride behind on as well.

Does anybody know what will be running this coming weekend, 20th and 21st March? I'm not able to go over the weekend of 26th-28th as I have already arranged to go to the WSR. Why do railways cover each other's events?

    Regards

Thank you for that, I notice that the usual diesel turn has been changed to steam too.

Will there be "outline" timetables available online prior to the event?

    Many thanks

Which one - the main gala weekend or the preview?

The main gala passenger timetables will be published online. You'll need to pick one with the TPOs and the two freights from a station on the weekend.

The preview weekend will be running a 45 min timetable, I think Tornado is doing the Dalex turns during the day to earn some cash.

Forgive the ignorance, but what is a 'Dalex Turn', please?

    Cheers in advance!

"Drive A Locomotive EXperience". The actual terminology used by different railways varies.

The Passenger & TPO times are now on the GCR Website here. http://www.gcrailway.co.uk/Events.aspx?ID=227

Scroll down until in the pane on the right you see the box showing the links to the timetables in pdf form. Full timetable has to be bought with the gala programme on the day, or I think its free with a runabout ticket.

Not sure if this is the right thread but yes I enjoyed a pleasant day yesterday at what was billed as a MIni Gala with the three guest Locos 80072,Leander(Jervis) and Tornado .My pics are at my site below. The trains were busy and the weather was kind so after the morning mist the sun shone on everyone.Let's hope the weather holds for next week and the line attracts plenty of paying guests. It's up against the West Somerset Gala but Tornado will pull em in I guess.
