    Hopefully 2016 is a misprint.

I should think so. I wouldn't be too surprised if there have been a couple of railtour companies who have approached the ERPS about the situation.

I thought the 10 yearly ticket ran out in 2016 as well.

I spoke to Harry Frith Junior yesterday and he confirmed that Nellie is back on the mainline this June/July.

The ERPS web-site now says "...we anticipate a main line test run in July 2010..." Great stuff!

I hope the problems suffered during the MHR Gala are easily fixed.

    Taken from ERPS website:

Have I missed a thread or something? What is going on, why no more mainline?

The cost of repairs when the engine is already 4 years into it's boiler ticket it was decided it wasn't worth getting Nellie back on the mainline

If the support coach is for sale, does this imply 828 wont go mainline either ?

And that if 850 returns to the mainline in it's next ticket it won't be in their custodianship?

The sale of the support coach does not imply that ERPS have given up their mainline ambitions. However, since it will be several years until either 828 or 850 are ready for another mainline stint, it's better to sell the present coach to raise some cash. They can borrow, buy or hire another when they need it. Remember that unless they can rent it out, they have to pay for storeage and insurence premiums while it's not in use.

Oh dear... I suspect the Heritage Lottery Fund people won't be too happy with this, wasn't one of the Heritage Lottery Fund's conditions that No. 850 "Lord Nelson" would be running on the main line aswell as visiting other heritage railways.

In any case, I hope this dosen't mean it won't run on the main line ever again. Or worse, once it's boiler certificate expires they'll send No. 850 back to the NRM where it possibly might not return to steam again.... NO! I'll stand in the way locmotive and museum's loco entrance way if I have to, I won't let "Lord Nelson" have the same fate as "Green Arrow"!!!

If I remember correctly, it was stated that the HLF had beeen involved in the discussions into the future of 850.

My view is this,, the MHR do not want to be involved with mainline work, and i guess this must impact on locos that are based there that have main line certificates, after all why has 60019 moved away ?
i just dont see 850 returning to the main line, after all the support coach has been sold, and the owning group have their own S15 to restore, ,most probally again just for heritage railway use so will not have the time to put into doing the work , 850 will get an overhaul, done by the railway but will remain just a MHR based engine in my view, but its got to be a better option than being returned to york and not steamed again

Sorry to be abrupt again guys, but you seem to think that engines go back to York and are never steamed again. NOWHERE has it ever been said that Green Arrow will never steam now...that's something that seems to have been invented around the time of the V2's retirement. It's out of service at the moment, yes, but that doesn't mean it will not run in the future - besides, it was off the mainline from 1991-98, and not all of that was overhaul time, much of it was around the turntable at York.

And yes, ERPS, HLF and MHR have all been involved in discussions over 850s future.
