Yes, I had seen that. They would have to arrest me. Armed with this document and tell them it's for private use, picture the scene if a couple of dozen photographers said the same thing. "Get on with the arresting mate, you are wrong". They have a job to do sure, but when someone is wrong, I'll stand up to them, push a bit and let them know they are wrong.

Part 2 of my video. I'm afraid the quality of this section is not as good as it should have been.
Anyone who has travelled in the first few coaches behind the 8F, will have noticed the rather strange surging back and to motion that sometimes occurs. This motion causes liquids in cups and glasses to slosh about and in particular glasses, that are moe than two thirds full are in danger of spilling their contents. Hence the red wine level had to lowered fairly quickly. However someone kept then filling the glass up again so the cycle had to be repeated.

Well that my excuse I think..[IMG]

Ralph, I must congratulate you on that wonderful imaginative excuse for drinking wine. Absolutely top class. I thought Mrs.V was a league leader when it came to making excuses, but she can't compete with that.:first::nod:

Oh dear oh dear... I fear people like this will ruin mainline steam.

It reminds me of when 5029 did the Shakespeare Express last year. I was on the footplate at Stratford. I kindly asked 2 photographers to get back onto the platform as they were trespassing. I got the '2 finger salute' back and a load of abuse. Lovely eh?

What an excellent selection of shots, and I even managed to get in one, the head on of Bittern... so you must have been in 'B' or 'C'

Grand selection of photos there. I've also ended up in one of your shots in the gallery at Diggle. Top right hand corner by the wall on the left. They were definately going great guns at that stage.
Oh dear indeed about the trespassing. They will see the end of mainline steam if they don't frame themselves.

As a former BTP officer I am very dissapointed to read this from such a respectable source. There was a clear (recent) instruction from the BTP Chief Constable NOT to treat enthusiasts in this manner.

I can understand why people feel the need to post their experiences on forums such as this - but that alone will not effect change. Those directly affected who actually saw and heard what happened (not hearsay) should use the complaints system to have the matter properly investigated. It's no use saying 'nothing will be done.' You HAVE to try. Having said that you will also have to step up to the mark and give evidence at any disciplinary hearing that may result.

If anyone wants advice on the finer points, please PM me.

Thanks for the kind words Ralph. I was actually down in F, in the middle of the train.

It may be of interest to know that I have similar photo collections recording railtours on which I have ridden in my websites for previous years. (I set up a new website each year.) Follow the link below to my 2009 website, then scroll down to 'Railtours'. (The 2009 site also includes coverage of Irish railtours.) All my sites are connected via links on the front pages, so it is possible to hop from one to another, eg 2009 to 2008, fairly easily and then find the railtour collections. My lineside shots are always in Special Trains collections.

A bit late, but here is my effort from Mirfield. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGxMA4Dsybo
You can see a couple of the trespassers as well.
It's a shame is this as I am now part of the Mirfield Railway Enthusiasts Society I do not want others to think that Mirfield is a hotbed of law breakers and would be steam saboteurs!

RalphW is right:You see millions of snappers along the way,all thinking they are the next David Bailey's looking for that exclusive shot, all thinking it's headline material for the nationals,so where do all these pictures end up one wonders.
No doubt in shoe boxes under the bed. It's only the very few that put up work on sites like this...
Perhaps on second thoughts they are too grim to display.

As for climbing fences and getting onto the track, what's the point. They are mostly men of a certain age, thinking it's schoolboy time again turning the clock back for excitement getting a few apples while the farmer isn't looking.
