Timings are on the bottom of tommorow's trip timings - the normal custom oin UKSteam seems to be that LE moves on and off depots etc on the day of a tour get put up with the tour timings, with longer distance positioning type moves being on the loco movements list. If it helps they are due off Totnes at 13:40, Ivybridge 13:57 and Plymouth 14:15. Times are also on the same page for D1015 back to Bristol.

Ian - what's your self crit of that pan? - its miles betterthan anything I got today.

Sometimes following by rail restricts your style - such as at Swindon where there is a perfectly level and safe platform surface alongside a loco length bay at the east end - but along comes Mr HiViz, and asks that you return to the platform right alongside the down fast - well I suppose it made someone feel important!

Here's my video which combines shots from Slough, Sonning and Challow. Had to really move down the M4 for that last one, just got there in time :car:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJLiBpVXUv4

Nunney Castle was really looking and sounding excellent. making a right old racket in all three locations. Hope you enjoy the video.

I've added a bit of 5043 on The Moonraker at the end, as it didn't really merit a separate production!

Yep both Lickey locations i know of are 'wrong side' for the afternoon so something of a headache if you wish not to burn out the sky, other commitments Thursday prevent me from having the time to get to the big hill so will have to make do with Longbridge, least the 4 track there allows you to go whichever side is favourable for light.

A day early surely? Sun not yet out but blue sky bodes well.
My information tells me that Friday will now be courtesy of RIR with 44871 and 45407.

Regarding the Sun position, am i right in thinking at 1pm it will be in the South ever so slightly on the Western side ?, unsure which is better between a south west facing Longbridge and a westerly facing Northfield, any idea's guys ?, other commitments stop my from going anywhere other than South X City line unfortunatly, can go both sides at both locations as it's a 4 track section and likely to be on the down fast.

Cloud will probably make it irrelevant on the day, but no point cocking up a shot where it could of been ok.

Well I am really surprised I never got an answer to my previous question=where did 5029 gain it's extra board on the front?..someone must have spotted this, one moment it wasn't there...bingo it appeared.
The second question perhaps might only be answered by the support crew...why was coal being removed from the tender at Paddington.

    ...or perhaps we shouldn't ask...

The answer to the first part of your queiry arpeture in relation to the headboard is that i believe it must have been put on at the challow stop. A youtube vid (not sure if posted on here) has the author videoing the passing before and after the water stop. Hope this is correct and of some help.

All the platforms long enough for this train, except platform 1,are under the wires which would preclude fitting a headboard, possibly the support crew were having to pull the coal forward for the same reason.

Actually the headboard and coal were well below the live wires above. The chimney was the highest point.
You are right, the video shows clearly, one without board, the other with...
    Must be some other reason.

    Perhaps we better drop.

do you mean 'shovelling it forward towards the cab or was the coal being shovelled out of the tender, ie onto the track/ into a wheelbarrow beside/ into a bag being held open beside... generally when there's a stop for any reason. the fireman will shovel forward so that he doesn't have to start taking a walk back into the tender as the coal gets used up, simples(meercat russian accent).
