Thanks - much appreciated. I did try ringing up enquiries once but the person I spoke to said he wasn't given details of which engine was working in advance.

    Time for the weekly(?) update:

34007 on service trains. 92212 on special train - REMEMBER IT NOW FACES NORTH

76017 is split. Tender is outside in the yard. Loco in the main workshops. Work continues on it and the mechanical half of the team dont have a restoration project underway.

850 Lord Nelson is in wheeldrop. Trying to drop the trailing driving axle. But dismantling is taking longer than expected. And also, much of the front running plates and smoke deflectors have been taken off.

31806 is due to have its boiler taken out of the boiler shop next tuesday and put on scaffolding outside, ready for preparations for testing. Smokebox door mechanisms now in place, and door back on.

MK1 TSO is halfway through painting, in undercoat. the class 11 shunter has finally come in for repairs and a repaint, still showing a 'thomas face' (which are still scattered all over the yard).

31806's tender has started to be lined out, looking good.

Thomas is looking weary, but ready to go out to other railways, it is anticipated its after its withdrawal at the end of august should take about 8 months.

34007 was hauling a 3 coach train, reminiscent of the west country trains, on learner driver experience.

Thats all i think, things are a happening.

(this may be the last update for a while as i am unable to get down over the next few weeks)

Hi guys. I am looking at coming down to see the line on a weekday in June. What I was wondering was...... When I last visited, umpty two years ago, you could get into the yard in the mornings before the engines moved off. Is this still the case, or has health and safety put paid to decent pictures? If it is impossible to get in, then I can arrive later. Any information would be great. Thanks.

I believe you can come onto the depot in the mornings, im not so sure about parking. You are only not allowed in the yard when there is shunting happening

well it cant be work for the 17th because Frank boait is never usually down on a saturday. Must be for the wednesday or friday.

interesting about 76017 boiler lift. Probably happening on tuesday as that is when 31806's boiler is being taken outside of boilershop to be tested within the nest few weeks.

Yes a very pleasant surprises to see the earlier emblem on the tender. I think the earlier emblem is more striking than the later emblem.

31874 carried that emblem when it was first steamed , 31806 and 31625 both had the large totem style... Incidently that tender was off of a N15 but went to Barry with S15 30499.
