Without knowing where the photo was taken it is difficult to be helpful! Porter, Eimco, and others built them, also some were homemade. Not uncommon in America, less common in UK.

You might try contacting the folks at The Statfold Barn Railway. Someone might pass on the request to Roy Etherington. I believe he was the driving force behind the 'Issinsyd' project and may have some clues about your machine or know of someone who does. If that doesn't bear fruit I can only suggest that you approach the Ohio Vintage Coal Co in the US. (There is a website.) They save and conserve mining equipment and have quite a record for that and have amassed a significant collection. I have no contact there but a general enquiry might yield something; particularly if your beast does turn out to be American.
These are the only suggestions I have. Good luck!

Ive had a chat with Roy and shown him the illustration.

He dosnt recognise it but does observe it appears fairly modern. If a country of origin is ever discovered he will give it further thought!

Thankyou everyone for your comments, most useful indeed.

I believe the loco is almost certain to be American.

I always thought it was a bit of a long shot for someone to recognise it, but I did promise the guy who sent me the photo that I would ask.

I believe that it may have been part of a private collection in the US which was then sold and shipped to Puerto Rico.

As has been commented above, I am sure there are many of these loco's around from various mining exploits and underground activities.

Thanks again for your help everyone.

    Best regards,

    Richie.
