Just got back and have added a few more pictures.

I have watched the videos and thoroughly enjoyed the sounds. That's what pictures cannot offer.

It was good meeting you ACW71000 and I echo your praise of the railway.

A 4am start to get to Llangollen but well worth it, a good effort from the railway yet again. Nice to see the goods without a brake van in the middle. A couple of pics from me:

Just viewed all the photos & videos. Well done to all who made the journey over to Llangollen over the weekend. We were certainly blessed with good weather.

Can I ask why Jesse wasn't used in the gala? I saw it in the sheds on the 24th and wondered why...?

    Cheers,

    Lewis

There wasn't a need for another engine! Only 4 loco's were in use on Friday, rising to 6 locos with 5 sets of stock on the Saturday, then dropping to 5 locos and 4 sets of stock...

It's also good to have a standby loco on shed 'just in case'... If Jessie was rostered on the Saturday, and a more intensive timetable planned around a seventh loco, then one of them failed, then there wouldn't have been another steam loco to replace it.

Jessie is operating services this week if you want to come and see this unique saddle tank in action...

Re: Loco Booked for The Corwen Patriot Gala, Llangollen Railway 23rd - 25th April

I've just been looking at some of the brilliant video of this event on Youtube. Once again it is spoilt by by the non-essential wearing of hi-vis by train staff. There is no requirement for operating staff on footplates, brake vans or passenger stock to wear this unless they have to go on the track. I'm not a prolific photographer but it p****s me off to see this at every gala we hold. Come on lads ,take it off & lets have our trains looking like they did in steam days.

    Bob.

Hi viz on the footplate, surely not. Think they are part of the signalmans uniform nowadays ;)
