    Hi there,
I am still planning on visiting the gala. Certainly looks like it will be a fantastic event even if trains are only running as far as Gotherington.
However I have a few questions:
    a) Will trains we running over the Stanway viaduct on Saturday 29th May or not?
    b) wiil a working timetable be online?
My website is carrying a short guide to the event which subject to any other alterations will be fully updated on Friday. Until then here is the link:

Does the above mean it excludes the need of running round?

Also, will there be any doubleheaders, as i've seen that 6 locos will be in action on each day leaving the rest presumably 'on shed' for viewing?

    Cheers,
    Lewis

The timetable is now on the website to download (link on homepage, news item and GWR175 section) . I will add the loco allocations to the site this evening. Thanks for your patience while this has been worked on.

Well, its all staring to happen! 1450 and 9466 arrived yesterday, whilst 8f 8274 moved under its own steam after a 21 year rebuild/overhaul. Thanks for the comment about the timetable - we basically had to tear everything we had planned up after the slip was discovered! In the timetable the 7th loco on the weekends and the bank holiday is designated SP this is shed pilot/Spare - the idea is to generate something for people to watch around by the sheds and also at some point the loco will either double head a service train or there will be a locomotive change at some point during the day (most likely diagram A). The Rialway inspectorate have given the green light for the Auto to work passenger trains over the viaduct and this hopefully will give an idea of when trains run to laverton in the future.
    More news as it happens!

Just one small thing, 7802 is a genuine ex GWR manor from the original batch of 20. It was only the last 10 that were built by BR.

    Latest Updates:
4612 Due in on friday - it may be in use over the weekend.
7802, 3717 and 5051 (static) all due also, by end of play friday.
3803, 4160 and 5322 due first half of next week.
8274 has been running in over the last two days, fingers crossed with no issues.
2807 - now due middle of next week, the loco is due to make its first moves any time now . . . .
GWR 813 now looks like being a static exhibit at Winchcombe, coupled to the GWR Horsebox which will be open for viewing.

Add in 1450, 9466, 7903, 92203 and 5542 this will be worth seeing. Rememmber at least 6 locos out every day, with a 7th in steam on the weekends and bank holidat monday. Pre event tickets are still being sold on the GWSR website at a reduced price, comparable to on the day prices. I for one will be quite happy to sit and have a pint at Winchcombe and watch all the fun, when not on duty.

I agree, its great that its all coming together - I can't wait!

I'll be there on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, manning the Gwili Publicity Stand - do come and say hello! Don't forget to come and see us at Gotherington too, where our RSH 0-4-0ST "Olwen" (in black as No.1144) will be in steam.

Do pop over and say 'hi' if you're there.

Good news for anyone who was planning to go to the gala from Cheltenham Racecourse station!:
A bus service will be running from Cheltenham to Toddington, run by Stagecoach.
Cost will be £2 per person to cover the costs of running the buses.
You can see the timetable here

Stanway Viaduct carried its first public train today, a publicity day ahead of the Gala. Auto 178 was hauled (propelled) by 5542 see www.5542.co.uk for a couple of pics.

    Sad news:
GWR 28xx No:2807 has been withdrawn from the line up for the GWR 175 gala on May 29- June 6th.
This is because of leaks found during static testing 19/20th May. Because this delayed test running and therefore it was decided that 2807 would not be transported to Toddington until the restorers were confident that testing was sucessful.

A shame and no doubt a blow to those involved in it's restoration. Perhaps it can have it's own special day at a later date when it will be the centre of attention.
    Good luck to 2807.

    Regards,

    Paul

As mentioned, with 2807 now unable to make it, I have done a small reshuffle of the locomotive roster and will try and get it on the GWSR website. Its been an exciting week, just waiting for 5322 and 5051 (static) to arrive from Didcot. A second Auto coach is also now planned to supplement 178.
The 8f has completed 2 days of testing (inc a 7 coach run) and i believe is now back in the shed for final adjustments and finishing.
So if you want to see a Churchward mogul on a proper train since the mid 60's (B+W can mask the colour) and GW freight engines on a 15 wagon gwr freight come and visit!!
Remember 6/7 locos in steam every day for 9 days! Loads to see and do at all 3 stations with an intensive timetable in action from 9am until 6pm.

    Just one question:
Will trains be top and tailed from Toddington or will the tailing locomotive be attached at Winchcome?
    Thanks
