Don't suppose it could be Tangmere? though it looks unlikely.

70013 failed her FTR on Saturday with a crack in the firebox.

I would think that it will be one out of these 3 locos currently at Carnforth, 48151, 46115 and 34067. 48151 however may struggle to run to the 75mph timings for the Royal Wessex on Saturday. Then there is 34067 which has been removed from its planned tours in July so for this to hauled by her would be very unlikely. So buy the process of elimination that leaves 46115. However I see that 44871 is scheduled to work from Grosmont to Bury on Tuesday, so there could be a possibility of that being extended to Carnforth for the loco to work South on Thursday.

Any idea on timescale ? not really an expert on Fireboxes.

Doubt the move would be 46115, 34067 or 44932, would expect a test via Hellifield prior to any of those three.

Don't know how bad this crack is, but keep your eyes peeled on the 5305 LAs site.

Didn't 46115 do a test run a few weeks ago seen vids of it on u tube. As to whats the mystery loco we'll have to wait until Thursday !
Over on the other side Mr R says 44871 is off to deputise for 70013.

That's sad news about Olly. I was looking forward to a ride up the Lickey behind her.
Let's hope it's not as bad as it sounds.

The plot thickens - now uksteam shows 44871 heading from Bury to Southall on the Friday. I suppose this shows how much work people are doing to try and provide a replacement loco - and David's doing trying to keep up!

EDIT: Since I made this post 44871 has now appeared on the Royal Wessex listing.

Interesting, because although uksteam shows 44871 L/E Bury - Southall on Friday 21st, there is still the TBA L/E move showing for the Thursday from Carnforth - Southall. Intrigued to see whether this is indeed another loco going to Southall as well as 44871...?

Being a volunteer in a boiler dept, all i can say is that depending on the severity of the crack, the boiler has to be coooled, drained and maybe a welding repair if it is not too bad a crack. A few weeks out though i would think. A boiler test will have to happen as well.

It could also be that David has not had chance to update, and the thursday move was an 'if required' slot.

Cheers for that James, i wonder where that leaves Vintage Trains as 70013 was booked a tour with them and visit to Tyseley in the next couple of weeks.

70013 is currently booked for two Vintage Trains tours, IIRC:
    - 29th May Tyseley - Didcot & return, via Sapperton & Lickey
    - 19th June Didcot - Swansea return (with 4965 Tyseley - Didcot)
Plus, perhaps, the first two Shakespeare Expresses.
In each of these cases, if Ollie is not available, then I'd expect one of the normal Tyseley residents to deputise. I don't think any of the routes are prohibited to Castles or Halls, at the moment. The prospect of a Castle, banked by a Pannier, on the Lickey Bank is quite exciting. Could be even louder than Ollie!
