Thanks for those timings Ralph and David. I shall be nipping out to Golborne to see her this morning before work. Hazy sun here at the moment so I hope to get a reasonable shot this time!

I might have a wander up the road to Kirkham if the sun burns through the cloud here on the coast.

She passed Golborne on time this morning, the location I went to seems to have become slightly overgrown recently. Next time I wont be wearing shorts to make my way through the nettles!

Record shot from the right side of the fence, camera resting on the post...:-

Last year I took some pictures of Tornado at the WSR, it was a hot day, and I wore shorts and a short sleeved polo shirt. The right lens fell out of my glasses into a patch of nettles, I had to take the stings to find it. Not something I would recommend.

    Nice photograph of DofS.

Decided to go west to see this run so that I would not be under the wires, so google earthed & used street view to find this location at Darkinson Lane, west of Preston. It must have been a tight fit under this bridge as the train slowed down to walking pace to pass under it. Running well and on time.

Does anyone know what the 964 headcode means? It's that sort of trivia that interests me.

I have heard that 6233 left Blackpool at around 5.28pm for the return.

Thanks to John (60017) for the update.

Pity I am stuck in work, light is much better than this morning.......

I'd like to know what would have happened had they presented THIS to the station manager on arrival and then refused to move. How far would the BT police be prepared to go with such a triviality I wonder?

Is this a reaction to the recent footage shown on national TV where a photographer was brushed by an oncoming DMU whilst being too close to the platform edge? Have NR given formal guidance?

This is jobsworth at its worst. Even more worrying; these 'Northern Rail' staff are dressed to look like police officers. and many ASSUME they are BTP.

Blackpool North is a closed station - so normally, only those with travel tickets would be on the platform. Platform 3 was opened to the public wishing to view the Duchess (they tell these guys that) so some attempt was made to facilitate enthusiasts. I'm not defending the action, just trying to pour some oil on troubled waters !

In answer to your question above Tony; if the station is closed to casual entry and you have no lawful right to remain (a ticket holder) you actually become a trespasser IF you refuse to leave on the request of 'an authorised person.' I doubt BTP would be keen to actually prosecute - but there is a power of removal. Hope that helps clarify the law in this difficult situation.

So if these chaps had valid tickets and refused to move what would be the course of action then?

Legally they may have a right to remain (depending on the ticket validity).

Blackpool north has been like this for at least 20 years, It would be my last choice of destination for photting or any other activity.
