I realise it's only moving to Cheddleton today, however is there any possibility of it working trains there this weekend?

I agree, i'll admit im not a fan of 8624's colour and probably won't make a specific trip to see it, but people have to respect a private owners wishes im afraid, it's not the national collection, it's an owners/owning groups to do as they wish with, might not be right but it's not our choice at the end of the day.

With regards to BR Blue this livery should be used far more IMO, it offers variety colourwise and is authentic on some Express types, with only 6023 and 60007 taking advantage i feel a trick is being missed by those wanting a break from black or green.

Providing that she performs well tomorrow on it's test runs it should be in service on Saturday.

The 8F has passed its steam test at Cheddleton and has done a couple of trips up and down the line. It will be running this weekend subject to availability

Latest Heritage Railway states that it is due imminently to painted black at the CVR and that it's runs at the East Lancs were to be its final turns in red. Sure Mr Wilcock will be delighted! Personally i'm quite disappointed at it as I have yet to see her and now she will look like every other engine! Unless of course the mags are wrong, but that never happens!

    Please God!

I saw some shots of it at the Buffet Bar last night - peering through my fingers against the shock - the poor thing even had a red cab roof!

Well we know that's inaccurate because it's already run at the CVR in red, and I'm pretty sure somebody posted in this topic not more than few weeks ago that it was due to remain in red for a good while yet. Heritage Railway also published an article a few months back about it going into black before arriving at the CVR. I think they're just desperate to see it get a new livery!

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long as I am looking forward to seeing a Black 8F on a long freight at Churnet. Bring on the charters!

Surely the novelty value of red has worn off by now?

oh forgoodness sake, just paint it black to shut people up (or harry potter livery to really annoy people, then in thomas the tank livery as james the red engine). i happen to like it in red looks very smart.

Wonder if red bull would be up for sponsoring a loco? The Sea Vixen looked nice ahem 'different' in red bull colours and I'm sure there's a B25 and a P38 in Germany wearing their colours....

When I own an 8F I'm going to paint it whatever takes my fancy!

With 28 pages of discussion on here now, I wonder how many of those were generated purely by its being painted red?

Where in Heritage Railway did it say it was going to repainted black - wasn't David Wilcock's column by any chance was it?

For all the moaners about the livery if you want a black 8f go to the GWR. Oh i forgot it doesn't have a BR crest on it so you wont like it FFS!!!
