Apologies, I was meaning more the amount of photos published on the net or in magazines - people do go out but is there much point making the effort if you're not going to do anything with them when you get home?

I'd suggest that most folk go out for the experience and enjoyment, taking pictures as a personal reminder of the day. It's only the last few years that there's been the explosion of 'self-publishing' on the internet. Before that, I suspect only a very small number of photters photographs were ever seen, yet they still found the motivation to go out. I know a good number who have superb collections that'll probably never be seen by anyone else, but that isn't their motivation. From a personal point-of-view, I enjoy sharing my pics from time-to-time, but it isn't my main objective - I go out photting because I enjoy the experience, not because I'm trying to increase my 'hits'. Also, 'going public' isn't without its downsides, so I can fully understand why many don't do it. If you're unhappy with the variety and selection of locations featured in the mags and online, then you may have found a gap in the market to exploit. Local knowledge can often turn up new viewpoints that the tourists haven't found.

It may not be Guardsman on sat the 19th after all as 48151 is in steam at Carnforth and not 46115 today ( friday 18th ) .I have been told that the path to Ravenglass is for a 75mph loco and 46115 is still down as hauling this tour.

Re: Any Interest in THE LAKELANDER?

If anyone's interested, 33207 Jim Martin and 57601 (never Sheila) are hauling the Brum - CarnFROTH section of this tour. The 57 will be doing the work, 33 for the ECS movement.

Rake is formed as such -

    99993 99371 99125 99352 99350 99311 4940 4984 99328 99723

    Need 99371 for a phot. :)

Re: Any Interest in THE LAKELANDER?

Hi Steve, was there wednesday and it looked like guardsman was lit and the 8F was not, on thursday, both loco's were in steam, tonight at (fri) 8pm, guardsman was in light steam and the other looked dead with no visible coal in the tender and guardsmans tender had been filled since my earlier visit between noon and 2pm when gaurdsman looked dead and the 8F in steam. heard a rumour that the 8F had a problem to do with the cylinders, or pistons, and that Mr Riley had been asked to supply a loco at short notice, so if 44871 turns up in the morning..... have no idea whats going on buy the way. just my observations which are inconclusive.

46115, what a machine. Looks superb, sounds good, very fast paced up the coast - 10 early into Ravenglass, didn't even get stopped at Arnside or Park South as usual. Departed Ravenglass a couple of minutes down on the return.

Approx. 250 pax for Ratty, 70 for Whitehaven, 30 for Muncaster - 350 to 400 passengers? Certainly seemed fullish, except the RMB which was stewards accomodation.

Interesting look at both images and videos shows little clag on the day except at Lindell Bank; was that due to weather conditions or good driving / firing teamwork ?

Re: Any Interest in THE LAKELANDER?

Probably a combination of both Fred, although clag from poor fire management, unless deliberate for photters, shows up even on the hottest of days.

Does anyone know if and when a 'Scot' last went down this line?
