Just discovered that mixed case doesn't work! "NATPRES T0619C STart" was ignored - I edited my previous message ("NATPRES T0619C STOP") without checking the case before I pressed "send"!

No I do not currently volunteer
I have used 'Natpres' with all the rest in lower case on both the start/stop messages and updates as well, and that worked OK.

  3. It's really easy to fix with scripting at the server end by simply reducing all input to lowercase before acting on the input content. Fairly universal solution which relieves the sender of remembering what upper/lower combination because it doesn't matter. Not sure what programming language Admin is using but all have straightforward case conversion functions.

I will make the key words case insensitive.
Just not had the time, STOP and stop work. mixed case will not.

Apologies for bieng a bit of topic, but I can't find anywhere else more suitable.

I've registered for Railtour Live & received the pin on my mobile. However, when I enter the required numbers at http://railtours.national-preservation.com/confirm.php
I get "Sorry, either the number or code is wrong."
I 've tried several times with the same result, despite my mobile no & the verification no's being correct.

    Any solution(s) anyone?

    Thanks

It's where someone did not leave a space between the tour code and start.
    So they sent in
    When it should be
I am trying to find ways of making the system less sensitive to mistakes.

I'm sure this new fangled text thingy is great if you're stood in a field, but it ain't half cluttering up the 'new posts' page. Any way of hiding these alerts so we can read the updates on all the other threads please? Iain

Since so many people don't have the hang of the tour codes, and as they are not actually shown on the UKSteam tours page, perhaps we it would be better to use loco numbers instead as the enabling code:

    eg
    NATPRES 60163 start
NATPRES 60163 on time past Egham
    NATPRES 60163 stop

(Would need to ask people to use the number as it appears on the loco eg 6201 not 46201)
