I see from the latest Steam Railway that "Cheltenham" will be coming to the Mid-Hants after asbestos removal by Bruce Knights at Eastleigh.

Another example of co-operation between NRM and preserved Railways.

Interesting - I seem to recall that 925 is in the Station Hall so must be neing moved to make room for exhibits from the Great Hall when (if) the redevelo[pment goes ahead.

Is 925 to be a static exhibit or to be restored to steam?

An interesting development, I'd have thought the Mid Hants has a long enough overhaul queue at the moment though!

MHR members were told about this at last years AGM but couldn't say anything. I guess we can now! During the War on the Line event a volunteer at the railway told my Father and I that 925 was going to be overhauled at Eastleigh under contract and would come to the MHR when finished. He also told of us of another loco due to come to the MHR for restoration but I can't say anymore at the moment!

If this comes to fruition, another working Schools will be most welcome. Will sound nice over the Alps.

Presume that part of the work on '925 will be a replacement axle for the one that failed its U/T after Rainhill? - was it the crank or plain axle that failed? It will be good to see another Schools in action :)

The axles are fine, the loco was U/T'd about 2 months ago, since when the project has been live. If it had failed, that would have been that.

Excellent, another classic Maunsell locomotive to breathe again. Looking forward to that entering steam in the next few years!

Well that was kept very quite , but its great news, and i cant think of a better new home for her as regards the other loco, is that also part of the national colection ? if so prehaps 245 might be nice , but isnt she in poor condition mechanically

33001, would most likily be bluebelle bound if she was released from York, Unless they were offered it but turned it down?
so what else , unless a certain light pacific is coming out of retirement ?

Interesting, thanks for that ... so the reason that it never worked again after Rainhill was basically incorrect?

If you mean the one named after a wartime Prime Minister, it is going to be cosmetically restored. I think it is staying in Station Hall.

I'd love to see 33001 at the Bluebell again and I'm not sure whats going in the works after 323,Baxter,263 are in traffic.

    So we've got

    925 to Eastleigh then Ropley
    4468 to Shildon
    30120 to Bodmin

    anything else.

I don't this the additonal locomotive is a NRM engine... I hear it is a direct replacement for 34016...

Maybe at some point we could have all three schools together at a gala? Now that would be some think to look forward too.
