Reports of a serious lineside fire at Redruth with some trains running over 1.5 hours late. This trip isn't over yet!

Don't want to be a pessimist, but given the current weather conditions & there does not seem to be any change in the foreseeable future, I can see a fire risk steam ban looming.

But this can't have been steam, so what caused it, or is it non-railway related?

I get it now, just looked on Google, it's on the diesel leg. My geography is not that good!

I've just checked the location of Redruth as well. Bl..dy hell, it's so far West it's almost in the USA!

Anyway. It's more than 25 miles West of where the box was scheduled to take over the train.

So unless there is a very strong Easterly wind blowing I think steam should ride this one out.

Nick, I've called a box, a box since the early 1960s. Like some diesel fans call a steam loco a kettle.

That doesn't mean I set out to knock a diesel fans fav loco. It's just the way I have talked about that form of motive power for close on 50 years.

And I always will call them boxes.

    Very lovely photo though Steve..

Even though it was taken by someone with a Nat Pres name taken from a box! LOL! (wink).

Now while this debate about boxes goes on, all here semed to have missed something really big on Nat Pres tonite!

Fanatical, "If it isn't SR steam then it's nothing", KentYeti, is here taking an interest in, and enjoying the reports, photos etc of a train heading West out of London with GWR locos in charge.

    History is being made! LOL!

    More photos and videos please!
