Some years ago I attended an air show at Greenham Common (pre peace camp days).
A DC3 was doing a circuit of the airfield for £1.50 a great experience in a classic aircraft.

    DC-3 flights - all in the 1980s
    Stansted - Duxford and return
Stansted - St. Mawgan and return
Coventry - Baldonnel (Dublin) and return
Luton - Luton via Cranfield and most of Bedfordshire.
Have also had jollies in a Skyship airship, DH Gypsy Moth and DH Dragon Rapide and the ultimate being a supersonic blast in Concorde G-BOAF.
None of these have any link to a steam ban.

Dried up veggies for dinner then!

We had four spots of rain here this morning. Shared between all of Kent. But temps forecast to get back up to circa 30 C at the weekend,

Rain forecast for my area today. So far just about enough to wet a pinhead. Loads of grey clouds though, which if we were swimming in water would no doubt be throwing it down by now.

Still nothing here in Reading for about 3 weeks or more now, apart from a few sprinkles lasting a few minutes. Again lots of grey cloud & that's it. Very muggy. Here as well temperature said to be going up to the high 20's at the weekend. Trimmed the straw & weeds with the lawnmower yesterday.

Seemingly the best way to cure the drought is to impose a hosepipe ban ! Cue rain

maybe something for the south east water company's to consider

I am surprised they haven't banned steam locos due to the water they use...... It will only take one person to find out!

As a confession , going on a water meter doesn't half help cut water consumption and saving money . For a family of 4 I've saved over £200 per year from the water meter and don't worry the children are all kept clean and have clean clothes and we are not popping back to Grandma's either !

I must admit I was equally surprised when I read a report that southern parts of the UK's ground water supplied were at a normal level for this time of year. One assumes that the past wet summers etc. have boosted levels. Still praying for rain though.

The annoying thing where I am is that whilst we are on a meter, and paying about £150 per year, the property next door is on an agricultural usage tariff, does not have a meter and they pay about £50 a year. Both properties where originally asbestos prefabs built in the early 30's, ours was rebuit as a proper bungalow about 16 years ago and next door rebuilt 5 years ago...:confused1:
