Surely most [?] of the water they use goes back into the atmosphere as steam.
Tiny sooty particles in the exhaust, once reaching the very cold upper atmosphere, attracts other water droplets which should help make rain clouds I believe - if you're lucky. In Swanage it's a bit like a desert at the moment!

Timings now up on UK steam indicate that a diesel will be used with 30777 and 46115 on Friday but nothing listed with 6024 on Saturday. Is His Majesty likely to have a diesel assistant? Is there a definate policy from Network Rail at the moment?

I get the impression that someone is using the Thames Valley as an imaginary line as workings starting north of there (5029 was out of Vic) appear to have run without assistence thus far.

It would be nice if we could be told where the line was! But I guess it's a very fluid, (sorry!), situation with the possibility of the area most at risk changing on a daily basis.

I suppose we won't get out of this until a couple of decent Atlantic Depressions saunter across the South of England. Do we have an Oval or Lords Test Match coming up? As the next bank Holiday is a long way off yet........

Anyway, we can all rejoice in the thought of Ralph having to water his veggies by hand! While those of us in drought hit SE England legally continue using our hosepipes! LOL!

We have had Wimbledon without a drop of rain (what a waste of money the new roof was). It seems to be the SE corner of the UK that is suffering the most, as always. There must be a barrier built around this area. The sun now beating down again as I write.

Update, now talking about 30'c! BBC local weather admit there is no sign of any significant rain for the foreseeable future which gardeners & farmers desperately need. Memories of 1976.

Yes. Blistering heat this afternoon in Kent. At least to me it is. I hate the heat. Roll on winter and I can go and climb Snowdon again in sub zero temps and on thick packed ice and snow.

But there is talk of thunderstorms Monday here..........

Bryan, I have reliable information that suggests it has been quite wet in Wales recently, so go and climb Snowdon now and cool off (riding to Rhyd Ddu by Garratt first of course)

Honestly , we all moan about our normally wet climate and a nice sunny spell and we all moan about that !! LOL .

the forecast rain for this week in the midlands didn't materialise, few drops at best . I'm trying to make the most of the sunshine and the children love having the space of the garden to play in . Reminds me of what seemed like endless summers when I was a child !

Will see the King tomorrow . Hatton favoured , just hoping no box but if that is what we get , oh well . Shame it's not an NBL D600 class .

I'm with you there Martin, we had a reasonably cold winter with a decent bit of snow and now a dry, warmish summer so far. Makes a change from the only way you can tell summer from winter when you look out of the window is there are leaves on the trees.

I just hope it lasts when the kids are off school for their summer hols.

    Neil.

2 weeks to today schools finish round here - cue 6 weeks of kids stuck in the house driving their parents mad because its chucking it down outside! That coupled with Salty's sister arriving suggests a monsoon from about the 23rd/25th onwards!

According to the forecast I've just heard it could be 'quite wet' overnight tonight in South East England.

    Always wet in Wales?

My last two weeks trip saw it only rain twice.

Once for 6 days and once for 8 days!

Looks like the south east will get a soaking tomorrow, which should make things easier for the next week.

    Regards,
