Southall is most likely seeing as Bittern is usually based there and 6100 will be based there and possibly 70000. Is 5029 based there?

I think 5029 is normally based at Tyseley.

I suspect that 34046 will operate much like 60019 did, based at the WSR for use during peak periods and special events then going out to Southall when it has mainline work on.

Good to hear that she will be out on the ML soon. She will nicely fill the gap left by the absence of 34027.

With regards to 5029 there was talk of her being moved to Southall with 60019 and 6100 but don't know what's happened about this.

Is this going to mean less work for the other Bulleids (Tangmere & Clanline) as I have seen on UkSteam.info that 2011 calendar is now up and Clanline is booked in so far? I guess 34046 isn't pencilled in for any work yet because she hasn't received her mainline certificate; of which I understand is going to be around September time? (The mainline test run)

I think you will find that Clan Line (two words) will be rather busy with VOSE work!

I think that there will be less work for most mainline engines as there are a large number coming on to the mainline (or returning to it after repairs) for the rest of this year, here's what I've come up with (I'm sure I've missed some):

    34067
    35028
    70013
    60163
    60007
    6100
    6023
    34046
    850
    45305
    61264
    44932

Bearing in mind that we're only losing 3 from the mainline this year, 4936's ML ticket expired in Feb but I believe she was withdrawn last year, 6233 and 71000. And then there are even more coming in 2011.

    You've missed 'Bittern' ;)

Good to see 34046's new tender isn't far off!! I wonder if she will have the Air pump like Clanline has built in the tender?

61264?? Unless you're including Esk Valley line locos in your list.

No the air pump is between the loco frames and exhausts through the chimney.

I kind of assumed that she was going fully mainline because the A1ST are restoring their own support coach as their current one is from 61264 and as it's returning to traffic this year the owners want their support coach back. But Esk valley trains don't use a support coach do they?

Very pleased about that as I have always disliked the idea of it in 35028's tender.

Looking at the list that Matt35027 posted, a few of the loco's won't be back just yet. Heard yesterday that 60007 is going to be out a bit longer than expected. It is also reported in the latest Heritage Railway which arrived this morning. 850 and 6100 could also be a little while off yet. 6100 seems to be looking nearer to next year for a ML return.

Thanks for the update No.7. It's good to hear how my favourite A4 is getting on.

You can cross 850 off your list, the costs of putting this one right are just too much.

Well someone is going to have to bite the bullet. Mainline running was a condition of the HLF grant I believe.

I thought that 850 was currently being prepared for a main line return.

She was/is. Last I heard she was in the works at Ropley with the rear driving axle dropped out and work not making progress as there are discussions as to who will pay for the work.

    Just to bump this topic.
Does anyone have any news of progress towards mainline for Braunton?
