I know it is rather early to start a thread but 9F 92122 has been confirmed a guest I do like the 9fs.

Hopefully we will get the pig this year, everything crossed!

    Where's North Norfolm :cool1:

I did hear the possible lineup printed in Steam Railway, but will wait to see if the rest are confirmed, 92212 was one of the ones listed, but i saw no mention of 43106.

Not yet but I'm hoping, The north Norfolm is one I haven't visited before :)
I enjoyed black prince in 2007, shame there is no 90775 for double heading again :-(

The 9F is confirmed, and as mentioned in Steam Railway we are looking at two more (also, there may be a surprise loco filling in for 69621). 43106 has not been requested for this year, and will not be appearing.

I was hoping it would be this year as I'm moving to leicester soon and will miss any appearances for the next 3-4 years :-(

Will be interesting to see what the other two are though, are they LNER locos?

Yeah but you get the GCR instead; I wouldn't say it's better as the NNR is very good, but it has different qualities to the NNR.

Is the Black 5 not staying for this event? Also any signs of a mainline loco arriving by rail? This would be an ideal opportunity to use the new crossing to its full potential. Not such a long trip for Dennis Howells Pannier from its August stay on the MNR. Could join another mainline loco and do shuttles to Cromer?

Re: North Norfolm Steam Gala September

So what's the likely line-up then? Because of capacity they can only have 5 maybe 6 locomotives in operation

5619 - (on loan from Telford Steam Railway)
44767 - (on loan from NYMR)
    65462 - (resident)
    92212 - (on loan from Mid-Hants Railway)

Is 69621 going to be there or elsewhere? If it's there, that's your five. If not, Ring Haw could fill in but that's a fairly uninspiring Hunslet. Any other ideas?

Not official but I heard I rumour 69621 is off to the South Devon to use the wheel drop.

And Ring Haw is a cracking machine!

If Steam railway is correct in saying whats coming for the NNR Gala, then it should be a really good event! Would love to see 43106 attend though!........is 8572 going to be running by then or Whissington?

B12 is still in bits so i doubt it. i think october/november time is what the society are aiming for. Wissington had a hyraulic test about a month ago and passed. The Y7 also passed a hydraulic test but according to my driver on saturday it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding

Lol Yeah I did hear that they had both passed.....hmmm don't sound like neither of them are going to be any good up Kelling bank on a 5 or 6 coach train! lol Can't wait to see Whissington finished though its taken so many years to do! Be nice to see the B12 again too!

Other engines are being sought for, we will have to wait and see hopefully some LNER engines

Re: North Norfolm Steam Gala September

I have some affection for the Y7 which for many years was at the GCR, but I don't think that a class 0F 0-4-0T is up to hauling any decent length on the NNR's gradients. It would be better going off to a smaller, shorter, flatter line like that at Whitwell and Reepham (for example).

Wissington falls into the same category as Ring Haw -- useful for the NNR's summer holiday tourist traffic but otherwise somewhat uninspiring for the railway enthusiast.

Perhaps but you can only run two trains at once; one in the Holt-Weybourne section and the other in the Weybourne-Sheringham section. Other trains must wait at the termini for one to arrive before being given the token. Hence with 8 engines, they're simply not productive. The optimum number is probably four, then when a train arrives at a terminus, the next train is ready to leave, and the loco can be runround so that's ready to go when the next one arrives.

Will the additional locos bring in extra visitors? Enough to cover the additional costs of having those additional engines?

Don't forget galas are also a chance for the volunteers to have a play with different locos, rakes of coaches etc.
