I was meaning the service from York - Harrogate - Leeds. That DMU service would see everyone back and would enter Leeds from the otherside...

TPE services & Cross Country were still passing at Colton Jnc all the time heading for Church Fenton, obviously going around the back.

I understand the Leeds passengers were being sent back on the 21.10 Trans-Pennine from York which was (from what I was told) going to be diverted. I escaped home on the 21.11 to Harrogate. A disappointing end to the day, though not the fault of the TOC or promoter.

As mentioned already, the tour was spoilt by the stock being turned at Hartlepool, meaning standard class was at the back for the entire trip. The original times on UK Steam gave it as the loco being turned but not the stock, although other timings which appeared on Thursday showed the entire train going for turning, so it appears this was changed relatively late on. Anyone know why - it seems to be becoming a habit on certain operator's tours and I don't think I'm the only one who is getting put off by this risk of being at the back all day.

Fantastic first day on holiday linesiding up north. Was out first at Church Fenton footbridge, then Shipton in both direction. Pity to hear that the train was canceled at York due to a cable theft.

Here are the links to the shots from today:

Don't mention the weather last night at Shipton Mark, I was sat there 45 Minutes in glorious sunshine, a fantastic glint on everything that went past! 5690 turned up and the smallest puff of cloud suddenly appeared over the sun! That's twice now this year i've missed out on a glint shot there... I think I'm been told something. lol Great work though Mark, hope you have fun the rest of the week. Simon

The only place to be last night was in a glorious sunset off the Durham coast.

No rain - and better fireworks

Yeah, there was 3 of us down the side of the bridge and for about 30 minutes it was perfect, then,as 5690 approached a random cloud bubbled up!

Obviously its all of our bad luck coming into one!!

Were you long at Shipton long before 5690 passed? I pulled up at the bridge, taking a look and a young chap popped up and went back to the car? Can't remember now, and I've just clicked it could have been you, having seen the photo on the Cambrian thread too... :/

I think the esteemed gentleman may have meant that he saw a fantastic sunset from his chosen vessel off the Durham coast.

Earlier in the day some of us found the MV Balmoral the most enjoyable way to travel to Hartlepool to see 5690.
