First is a rare photo of a Maunsell N15X rebuild of the LBSCR Class L 4-6-4 Tank, renamed the Rememberance class

2331 was named Beattie, after the loco designer, but it was actually designed by Billinton.

Original Tank engine was a Bilinton loco, but Maunsell rebuilt it as a tender loco, hence i have called it a Maunsell loco as in this present form it is not a Billinton Tank engine

    Copied from http://www.railuk.info/steam/getsteam.php?row_id=5788

Built 1934-6. Designed by R.E.L. Maunsell.

Total Number Built 7 - Total to BR 7.

Introduced 1934 Maunsell rebuild of L B Billinton's, London Brighton & South Coast Railway (LBSCR) Class L 4-6-4 Tank, built 1914-22, with side window cab and Belpaire firebox. Classification 4P.

After rebuilding, Maunsell attached them to 5,000 gallon Urie bogie tenders for use on the Western Section.
