    I am pleased to announce that Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 WT No. 1643 of 1930, Bronllwyd has joined the Statfold Barn Railway fleet.

    Bronllwyd is a great addition to our" Hunslet group" fleet of locomotives.

    Ideally we could do with a Manning Wardle so if anyone knows of one going spare?!

    In return Hunslet Quarry "Statfold" and Baguely Drewry diesel 3782 will be spending the rest of the Season at Bressingham.

    Your probably having a laugh. If it does it will need some boiler work and a good bit of attention to the bottom end.Unless Bressingham have been working on it secretly.When it left service on the L&B Bressingham would not sell it.

    When it left Woody Bay, it was out of 10 year ticket on the boiler and was ready for a heavy general overhaul ( the works ).

    I think its unfair that Statfold are hogging all of the steam locos. Leave some for everyone else to play with!

    I believe Bronllwyd has been the only 2' gauge steam loco in service at Bressingham this year, so obviously some work has been undertaken. However it may be that the bare minimum has been done in order to provide some steam on the 2' line at Bressingham - the new build Wren lookalike appears not to have entered service yet whilst I understand the two Bressingham Hunslets are both out of service. Gwynedd seems to be out of action 'long term' as she is now displayed on a stub of track in one of the museum buildings, a particular shame as a number of us would like to see her reunited with her sister!

    No doubt the Statfold team will 'descend' on Bronllwyd and turn her out in 'top-notch' condition shortly.

    I won't worry to much Chris, After LYN has been built we will have a number of Baldwin patterns sitting around in North Devon and a few ideas as well

    The new "wren-alike" has received HMRI approval and entered service - I was one of the drivers today. We had a 15 minute interval 2 train service on the 2ft with new No 2 ( to be formally named early next month) and Statfold doing the honours.

    Our larger Hunslet, George Sholto / Bill Harvey, is expected back in service for next year's season. Gwynedd will follow - but I'm not going to hold my breath or risk guessing the timescale as yet. At least in the museum building she is protected from the elements, and moving her out when her slot in the workshops come up, whilst not a two minute job, has been allowed for.

    Good news on The Sholto front. What chance of restoration to Penryhn condition as per his 'ultimate quarry tank' brother? Now that would be a wonderful sight. Having had the pleasure of meeting Bill Harvey as a young lad I am sure he would approve!

    According to the uk loco database (http://www.uklocos.com , a brilliant site), 2393 is still just a frames and gearbox sitting in the grain store at Statfold

    Thanks for the update Charlie,I was not aware any work had been done on Bronllwyd, in that case my earlier comment may not be relevant, and it is possibly in steam and could steam in september .

    Well Herny while we are at it I would like to see a big 2ft gauge Avonside and a big 2ft guage Peckett in North Devon at some stage, both just as rear as hens teeth.

    I don't have a Manning Wardle production list to hand currently but I do not believe that MW built a substantial number of NG locos of 2'6" or smaller - L&Bs excepted. Most of their NG locos seemed to be 3' & larger; they certainly made a good few 3' contractors locos for UK projects around the turn of the century, none of which, alas, remain.

    The only MW NG locos in UK currently are :
    1382 "Jubilee 1897" at NGRM Towyn, 1’10¾”.
    1675 Kettering Furnaces No 8 at Welland Valley Vintage Traction Club. 3', undergoing long term careful rebuild.
    and "Chevallier" which has been the subject of another thread.

    There appear to be a couple in Brazil; both metre gauge, I believe, and "stuffed" and plinthed. There were also a couple in Zimbabwe ex 3' regauged to 3'6" and, at one stage, at least one was rebuilt for preservation - Bulawayo I think. There were a few others that went to S. America but details elude me at present.

    Sorry, Henry! Looks like "Chevallier" or a new build and that might not be easy as I have a nasty feeling that most of the Manning Wardle drawings disappeared into a 'black hole'. You could use "Jubilee 1897" as a prototype if the NGRM would allow!

    Like you & presumably Graham, I'd love to see one running.

    or if we got enough pennies together, the Sierra Leoneans might let "Nellie" out of the museum for a return to steam in the UK and then return after running in to Africa. Nellie is a 2'6" 0-4-0ST of similar type to "Jubilee", but bigger and a unique survivor of its class.

    I think he was refering to Lyd...wasn't he? Or are we all still being pedantic about whether Lyd is a MW or not....

    Am I right in my thought that the museum's Garrett is a 4-8-2+2-8-4 on 30"? That would solve any power problems at WLLR!!
