NYMR Friday 6th August

Had a really nice day at the NYMR a couple of weeks ago, been busy so only just got round to uploading my photos and the video is still to come. Had a bit of time at each station apart from Levisham and two journeys to Whitby during the day.

Many thanks, the missus and I are having a week on York next week so looking forward to visiting the NYMR. Does anyone know what are the likely locos rostered for 1st Sept?

 

Not a great range to choose from at the moment! I should be able to give you a better idea at the weekend. At the moment, 45428, 49395 and 63395. 92214 is on wash-out and 825 should be re-entering traffic literally any minute now after repairs to the vacuum ejector. 45212 is not far off and 76079 should be back soon but probably not by 1st September.

Thanks for the info. Will the Whitby trains be running along the entire length of the line? I'm planning to do photting around Goathland whilst the wife can go off to the village and do shopping like we did last year but I ended up missing out on Repton as I think the Whitby trains only ran between Grosmont.

The trains to/from Whitby always run the full length of the line. It is normal practice to change locos at Grosmont but during the gold timetable the loco on the 14.00 ex Whitby usually runs right through to Pickering and returns on the 16.00 ex Pickering. You won't be seeing Repton, though, as it's technically broke at the moment.

 

Great, many thanks for that. We arrive at York on Monday morning in time to hopefully phot 46115 departing on the SSE. The next day we have a ride behind on the SSE, Wednesday visit NYMR, Friday phot the Scar. Flyer at York and then on the Sunday morning before we leave to come home phot The Waverley. So can't wait for next week, just hope the wife has lots of patience with it all.:cool1:

Hi Steve sorry I did not get a chance, by the time we had got sorted we just jumped on! I had a couple of others I was dragging around with me that day and we spent the time at Pickering in the queue for bacon rolls and tea! I couldn't believe how busy it is, the stations and trains were packed out all day. That would of been great though, thanks, next time I go we will have to get there even earlier!
