Sounded suspiciously like a 67 powering up when the train was leaving Victoria...!

And did you notice the 'snow' and 'no snow' views confirming some of the 'out of sequence' editing!

According to UK Steam - September 2007. I last saw it on a Canterbury VSOE run on 27 July 2007.

Remember, you can either book the O.E.with or without steam. You have a choice in the price.
The train still runs with diesel most of the year even when Clan isn't available.

I think people get the impression it's only pulled by steam.See the company website to get a more accurate update.
I've been at Victoria when the steam leaves to be replaced by the diesel tour with other coaches.

The BBC are not interested in the fact that as far as some rail enthusiasts are concerned the 'wrong' loco may have been shown in a clip, the programme was Celebrity Master Chef doing the Orient Express.
As for 'misleading those not is the know', do you actually think the BBC care?

Most of the television companies are run by the young (you are over the hill by 35) so what experience and knowledge do they have.Steam trains, what's that.
Actually, reminds you though of those old Hollywood movies,A DC3 takes off,a Junkers 52 in the air,and a Flying Boat Clipper coming into land, and we believed it.Whatever stock clips were laying around, join em up!.

    Nothing changes.

    And why should it change?

99.99% of those watching won't give a damn about continuity errors etc.

Why spend even more money trying to cater for a tiny minority of their audience?

Rather they spent it getting these so called cooks doing something that looks like the food you'd get stuck into after a hard day on the lineside etc. Lamb chops with new potatoes and green beans straight from the garden, like I had last night! Yummy!

Not this stuff where they end up wiping a trace of sauce around the plate to fill up all the bl..dy gaps!

The food served by 'The Gravy Train' on RTC tours seems pretty good to me, all cooked on board, none of this prepping in a kitchen first, in fact after dinner had been served on the way back from Scarborough yesterday, the chef was busy cooking the lamb for todays diners. Chilled, sliced then finished off today prior to serving.

Ah new seasons lamb! Got me a small rolled West Country lamb shoulder for Tea tomorrow. New potatoes boiled then tossed in butter, and another large helping of runner beans from the garden. On a large plate that it will all fill. No gaps and no fancy painting the plate with the sauce!

Hmn, I take the mickey out of Mrs.V regularly but I NEVER make fun of of the meals that she puts in front of me. She's a good cook. We very rarely eat out, no point, we get good wholesome food at home (at a fraction of the cost of eating out). Friday evening we had Liver and onions with mash and veg. The liver cost 75p. :hungry:

VSOE have kitchens at Stewarts Lane, so at least some of the cooking is done there and the food is presumably re-heated on the train. Does it matter, though, if the quality of the product is right? I dare say H & S comes into it - can't be good having pans of boiling water in a moving vehicle!

What did you do with the other bits of the poor little lamb "straight from the garden" then? Or is it like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1nxaQhsaaw

The BBC have stolen my idea!

I do like my lamb done so parts of it are still calling for it's mum. Crisp on the outside and close to raw in the center. And that's how it was tonight. And the fresh runner beans and gravy were superb, even if I say it myself!
