North Norfolk Steam Gala September

well having seen the basic timetables last monday, i can say they look very good.

as has been said, i hope as many of you can come to the gala as possible (i'm on Sheringham Platform on the Friday and around the railway the rest of the weekend)

 

Jinty 47406 just announced as final visitor.

Does anyone know what time roughly the vintage bus service from Norwich station gets into Sheringham? Might be travelling up from London to do the gala and the only service train I can get from Norwich doesn't arrive til 10:42!

 

Probably 9:40ish. It leaves Norwich at 8:40. It takes an hour on the way back in the evening.

 

!!!!IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

Due to Injectors problems with 'Jinty' 3F 47406 at the Great Central Railway, Gresley N2 1744 will be replacing it at the gala.

This will be the 3rd time in a year that the N2 has visited and will be as good an attraction as it has already been. Please be aware that due to timetables & diagrams, the N2 may or may not be on the Quads during the weekend.

 

Cheers for that, means I have the chance to get to the gala an hour earlier! Does the bus leave from straight outside the station? (Norwich that is)

Throughout the weekend there will be shed tours so that the public can see what has been going on with the railways projects. However, if you mean Shed Open Nights there will not be any of these for a number of reasons.

 

Sir Lamiel will be arriving at Sheringham NNR at 18:30 on Thurs 2nd Sept.

 

That will do, I like seeing progress on various bits and pieces.

 

Thanks for the update. Might get a chance to see 30777 between Norwich and Cromer as its during daylight! Although if being towed by diesel out of Norwich it might pay to watch before Norwich. I understand it is arriving in Norwich via Thetford. Can anyone confirm which way loco will face once on NNR? Looking forward to a great weekend.

 

Surely it's not too late to fiddle with the timetables so that the N2 stays with the Quads as happened the last two times it visited? If it can be done I'm sure people would be appreciative.

 

I think both the north Norfolk railway and great central railway have to be congratulated in actually providing the replacement even if it is the N2... Can't wait to get down now on Friday

What is a POB?

Is there a diesel involved or is it steaming?

 

Lamiel sitting at cromer for five hours due to issues with crossing. Crossing at 0003 Friday. Have spent today removing superheater elements from black 5. Definite no show on friday possibly back Saturday, certainly Sunday

 

I can go Fri and Sat, got to order my LSP tomorrow

 

so is everything facing the right way round?
