Does anyone know whether, after leaving Liverpool, this is going via St.Helens or Parkside?

    Thanks

Another usually reliable source has the tour starting from Preston? with 5690 at 9.11.

I checked uksteam this morning and it was showing as diesel from Crime St to Preston, so instead of going to Edge Hill to see it I went to Sandbach to see 6233 instead. I hadn't seen the Duchess in black so it was nice to see, but I would've preferred seeing 5690 storming up the bank.

As malc suggests 5690 ran as booked from Liverpool L St. Lets hope the entire trip runs well!

Assaright then - Wee Shug is ootside on the pavement panhandling with his wee dug. We're inside with Scotland on the telly, a steak n a pint and a typical Glesca Friday night out crowd - better than BSW's!!

5690 is away until Monday and 61994 is next on the roster.

Premier Inn want £10 for a night's wi-fi access - awaynbileyerheed - we're on line for free acroos the road in ra bar. Last bus to Queen St in the morning 06.05 - I never knew there were two six o clocks in a day, let alone two days running. Cullen Skink and Pints at the Grog tomorrow - excellent - three cylinder music four days running, and I might even finish off at the Bispham Kitchen on Monday

Not sure it's worth starting a new thread for each day of this tour as I doubt there'll be that much discussion? Today seemed to go well, with The Marquess being about 30 mins early into Crianlarich and then running close to time all the way to Fort William. All seemed good with 45231 on the outward run to Mallaig, although I didn't hang around for the return. Weather started off misty, but cleared nicely, before clouding over again from the west. Very warm, so not much exhaust except for early on.

Anyhow, here's a pic of 61994 climbing away from Bridge of Orchy:

45407 slipped to a stand on ,1 in 50 outside oban, driver says he cannot take us any further and have set back into oban for decisions to be made.

    Note -
This was half mile from summit and that we slipped to a stand on gradient after tyndrum this morning but set back through station and got going again.

From looking at an old Railway Magazine, the load limits for Glasgow to Fort William were 300 tons for K4s, and 240 tons for Black 5s. If 45407 has taken 7 coaches to Oban, then the weight will be in the region of 250 tons, so not surprising it stalled. The last time I went to Oban was with a pair of 37s on load 11, and they were down to around 15 mph by the summit.

61994 en route to assist. Now expected to arrive in Glasgow 00.15 instead of 18.57! At least departure isn't until 09.53 tomorrow. Thanks to Alberta for the updates.

Could the west coast rlys member on the forum (Sorry forgot your name) please shed some light on the farce that was encountered today? The black v was booked for 6 yet we take 7. Also the failure to make tyndrum summit on the outward run must of led to doubts regarding the return out of oban, so were backup plans made? Certainly a top tour regardless of todays events. It wouldnt be a good tour if it didnt contain some sort of farce! :)
