Now we see why 46115 isn't available for The West Highlander. A new tour has just appeared on UKSteam.info:

Sat 04-Sep: THE LUNE RIVERS TRUST SPECIAL (24/08)
    46115: Carnforth-Hellifield-Chester and return.

Can't really grumble - if you wanted 6115 its been a regular performer on the SSE's this summer - and a Jubilee up Shap and Beattock - well 2002 was a treat - and back over the South Western - shades of the Thames Clyde - but - are there any pubs in Thornhill??

Yes there is one in the centre of the town by the monument that stands in the middle of the main street.

Oh, I'm not grumbling! Far from it. I love the sound the Jubilee makes, and the lovely crimson lake livery stands out against a summer landscape better than BR green. Leander has been an elusive loco as far as I'm concerned, so all shots of her are a welcome bonus.

I was more interested in why SG had been withdrawn from the West Highlander at fairly short notice. I was worried in case she'd developed another problem, so was quite pleased to see she'd just been assigned to a different tour.

Presumably The Lune Rivers Trust have been selling seats themselves, hence why it's not been advertised in the usual places before now.

Another day when I'd like to be in several places at once...!

IIRC this is a local charity supported by David Smith and I presume he has decided to furnish the tour with suitable traction; this may also explain why it has not been advertised in the railway press as I assume the tour is for Lune Rivers Trust personnel and friends only.

My couple of piccys from Billington footcrossing this morning running about 5mins early . - Not used to early trains in the morning this direction so swopped sides otherwise train would have been in shadow.
