Yes, shame 88 is not in BR livery or it's not 53809 visiting. But no.88 will still be a new cop for my Dad and I so we'll look forward to photting it.

Sounds very good! I always love a good S&D gala. A bit of black and white photography will have to be taken I think to hide the Prussian blue!

Always thought that the Mid Hants is one of the better lines for S&D recreations with the gradients, single line and Southern stock so looking forward to this event. Agree 53809 or perhaps the 4F would be a better choice but no doubt both are unavailable.

Just an idea but it would be nice to see the untypical Pines Express headboard given a rest and instead use some reporting numbers on the engines. Would be nice to see 1O88 or 1O91 on a disc or 1O84 or 1O92 on a square board.

    Cheers,

Lets hope S&D 7F will run a few trips with the wagons and is also facing smoke box out of Alresford.

88 is also rostered for the steam and diesel gala the following weekend. Does anyone know how long she is staying for? Any chance she will be in operation for the open day the weekend after the steam and diesel gala?

No pleasing some people. MHR get a 7F for an S&D themed event, then get slagged off for hiring the one in the "wrong colour". Why do people bother to restore and run steam locos if there is no pleasing?

I know. One in the wrong colour is better than none isn't it. Though I do understand that they would rather have proper recreation.

Just been looking at some pictures on the letters page of the MHR site and it appears 92212 has been off somewhere* or has been turned around on a low loader. I guess she is now facing out of Alton? When I last visited on 21st August she was facing out of Alresford.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing the old S&D being recreated over the "Alps" no matter what liveries the loco's are in! My earlier comment was a remark of the sarcastic form!

*Durrr!! Just remembered where 92212 has been. The North Norfolk Gala.

View attachment 1670 View attachment 1669 We will have to wait on 92212s return from Norfolk to see which way round she is .
With the Santas looming again it may well be from 34007 45379 facing out of Alton and 73096 and 92212 facing out of Alresford . Enclosed cabs and 5MT plus needed to work these 6 or 7 coach trains so the return of 31806 would be irrelevant for these services.
850 will not be avaliable I doubt and work to fettle her up for service continues.

Ive just been scanning some old (for me) 35mm slides . Whilst we may see 30120 run again at some point in the next few years I doubt if we will ever see 31874 climbing out of Alton again . such a shame.

Am I missing the point? An S&D liveried loco at an S&D themed event??!!! ... and the problem is??!! ( or was the comment TIC?)

The gala timetables can be accessed by clicking on the relevant date on the calendar, no loco allocations though...

It's a case of get what you're given, enclosed cab or not. No reason 1806 can't work Santas.
