Maybe, but I'd have thought it unlikely, the crossheads are off for whitemetalling I believe.

    From the Superpower website.

"If you are around early on Friday there are some unusual photo opportunities as Lyd, Taliesin and a set of vintage carriages make their way over the Porthmadog cross-town link and down to Dinas. The train is timed to arrive at Pont Croesor around 0900 then proceed to Beddgelert where it will stand awaiting a crossing with the 1130 service train. It will then continue its journey, crossing the second service train at Waunfawr before arriving at Dinas around 1300."

Final details of Lyd's visit to Cornwall are [thread=26624]here[/thread]. Of particular note is that Lyddites are entitled to free travel.

All details are of course subject to the proviso she doesn't break at Beddgelert or become wheel-less at Waunfawr...

But it's not, it's Boston Lodge 2010, the only place to have been building steam railway engines for 130 years, that's one of the reasons it's the one and only.

Thats a bit of a tortuous claim as for the majority of of those 130 years they have not building locos. Was there something like a 90 year gap between LT and EofM? I appreciate it is a good PR or advertising claim but it is rather like George England & Co or Fletcher Jennings being reopened building a new steam loco and claiming they have been building steam engines for 150 years!

But if one of those companies was to be reopened would the skills they use have been passed down through generations of the staff? And would it still be the same company?

So were any of the loco engineers from the old company re-employed by the new company?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Morris Jones was an old company employee, I also think they recruited an apprentice early on who learnt from him.

The official line is that Blodge has built steam locomotives over three centuries - and examples from the 19th, 20th and 21st are still in regular use today.

On a very wet morning, Lyd only required a small amount of help from Taliesin in T4 when it encountered wheel slip, otherwise pulled Tal and four FR carriages from Harbour up to Beddgelert at a very brisk pace. Load roughly equivalent to six cars and the noise it makes climbing the 1 in 40 is worth the ticket price on its own...
