    Hello,

The loco was due to arrive at Laira, having travelled by road, from Barry today. I have not heard anything to the contrary so expect that the trip went well.

As mentioned elsewhere the times for all the trips are now up on UK Steam Info.

    Regards

    Bruce Murray

9466 is all tucked up at Laira and 37685 is ready to roll from Tyseley - in less than 12 hours the show begins... A number of pay on the day tickets should be available - look out for the Devon & Cornwall Railway Partnership shop on the Looe platform at Liskeard.

Looking forward to this on the 26th. Got the train tickets booked with FGW so just hope they get us to Liskeard in one piece and on time.

I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that 9466 is going to the South Devon Railway on Monday 27th September. Shame I've got to get the keys for my new house that day, otherwise seeing a Pannier light engine over Hemerdon would've been worth making the effort for!

I will watch out for that trip to the SDR as I will be in the Torbay area for a few days around the 27th.

I find it extremely unlikely that any photographer would deliberately break a lock off a gate to gain access, let alone multiple "locks". Sounds to me like landowner(s) who simply aren't used to the numbers that turn out for an event such as this. While I have some sympathy with them, it simply isn't realistic to expect these kind of events to take place without some level of disruption to those living in the area, even if everyone stays on public land. I have a similar experience living just round the corner from a football stadium and trying to move / park when a match is on. It's just a part of life when "events" happen and those in the more remote parts of Cornwall should count themselves lucky that they don't have to experience it too often.

You may find it extremely unlikely, dairypaul. Other people up and down the country know from experience how tunnel vision takes over when residents of the IQ-free zone want to get a picture of a train. Leaning off the platform edge, walking in front of a bunch of video tripods, going into an area between two fast tracks, letting a passing train knock a stepladder out of their hands, not to mention effing and blinding at anyone who dares to challenge them. These are all things seen or reported on NP in the last 18 months. Tip of the iceberg no doubt, sadly.

I'm sorry to here about the trespassing, after seeing both 9466 & 60019 at Liskeard

a mate and I walked down the lane to Coombe station to find it all locked & chained up, but saw

staff at the junction crossing who were very helpful and opened up the station when

the train was due to arrive. Photographers were quite content.

There was no need to go trespassing on land and disturbing livestock.

Thank you to all involved making this event happen.

Hope to go down again next Sunday.

One thing i noticed was that there appeared to be people on the track videoing just 200 metres from the staffed crossing at Coombe Jct?? Certainly one is on my video (at 4:52 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrgRtseOPIo ) and i think there were more on the other side. Wonder if they will try their luck again this sunday?

    Cheers,
    Mark

We have a unique event that is going to attract the interest of not just the enthusiast fraternity but also the local population as well . The line is wonderfully scenic as the photographs have shown but also from the time I drove down the road to Looe , parking is at an absolute premium

I'm genuinely not sure what you can do on this one , unless an enterprising farmer opens his field up for a car park and other fields for photography and that is maybe one solution to the problem

Tip of the iceberg fttfttftt68, or a few isolated incidents among the many thousands who have enjoyed the spectacle of steam on the mainline during that period? Much more fun to moan about the negative than focus on the positive aspects? My suspicion is that the locals complaining would still be complaining even if everyone had stayed on public land because inevitably if you try to cram that number of people into such a small area then some inconvenience will be caused.

I can recall one local complaining about the local heritage railway in spite of the additional trade it brought to his pub. Some people will moan no matter what.

I did overhear someone say at Liskeard that a farmer was charging a pound or two to use his

field and donating the money to charity. Did'nt catch where though.
