I realise this has been discussed in the 'PMR' tours thread, but that seems a bit too generic for this tour, and there are only three weeks before kick-off. My question is, has anyone fathomed out how we are going to navigate our way round Glasgow yet? I've heard one suggestion, but I've now forgotten it, which is most useful! Also, is there anyone else booked on this tour now the Stranraer run has been cancelled?

EDIT: By the way, my finger slipped, the trip date is 2 October, not 1, so I'd have happily gone to Crewe at 06:20 on the Friday morning, only to find I was 24 hours early!

It's taking the 'Caley' route, via Mossend, Cumbernauld, Greenhill Lwr and Larbert - well-known to Crewe's 'Perth link', of old.

I'd love to know what will happen at Stirling as there's no stabling space for a large train and no facilities for servicing a steam engine.

Maybe the stock can be left in the platform, not sure how many through trains there are, there is a triangle west of Falkirk where the loco could be turned.

There is no chance the stock can be left in either Platform 2 or 6, both are in constant use throughout the day. Platform 2 sees at least 5 trains an hour and Platform 6 a mix of 2 or 3. The stock could be shunted into Platform 10 but that can only take 9 cars.

You see thousands of snappers with cameras (what do they do with the pictures?)yet it is the real diehards on this forum that produce the goods.

And there will be no excuse about not knowing where the train is on the day, I'll be updating regularly.

Looking forward to this even more now. Booked early. Hanging around Stirling will prove interesting while they stack up the stock.

Yep, I'm also really looking forward to my first ever 'dawn patrol' trip, with an 06:20 (estimated) start from Crewe (the earliest previous trip I've done started at 08:35). Only eight days to go now...

Yes Ralph it is Longannet Power Station. There are two triangles which seem to be signaled one way according to the Scottish quail, so the train will have to travel through the Power Station to turn. Some very rare track, any chance of turning it into an add on tour :)
