Looks like it, the stock would have to be stabled in the power station itself or on the single track through line. I dont know the amount of traffic on Saturdays and whether it would be possible to do that. Plus the TOC is West Coast and we all know how they like turning the whole train.

Well I must admit I didn't complain on that occasion, but would still prefer to see both ends get their run at the front.
I was on the receiving end of the irate bunnies earlier this year when I was stewarding in the next to last standard class coach out of Crewe. I was not pleased when the train was turned at Carlisle and was personally berated by several passengers as if it was my fault.

Maybe operators should consider the turning issue. It seems to matter to lots of punters, posh and steerage... fairplay for all!

I doubt that the whole train will go to Alloa & Longannet PS for turning, just the engine and POB.

So there's enough room at Stirling to stable the stock then?

There are 2 sidings by Stirling Middle box although unsure on whether they would fit a whole train in. Suppose the stock could be stabled in either cambus or alloa loops if not.

UK Steam appears to have updated the timings, it did say 46233 + ECS to Longannet, it now says 46233 + C. Guess the stock is staying in Stirling Sdgs

Yes, I seem to remember that, too! Although knowing my luck, First class will be next to the locomotive for the whole trip, particularly as I am in carriage J!

Near the North box, between the Perth lines and the Alloa lines, there appears to be standage for about 12 Mark 1s in the sidings there without splitting the train.

It's not permissible to stable stock on a running or loop line unless it's authorised in the Scottish Route Sectional Appendix, and neither Cambus or Alloa are listed.

The stock will be stabled in the siding at Stirling, apparently.

If they fancied a shunt, platform 10 is marked as having room for 13...

This tour is particularly well timed. If it keeps to the schedule everyone on board should have a memorable day.The only reservation I have is if the train receives assistance.Lets hope not.Good Luck.

Doesn't 6233 always have a box on the back because it can't heat the coaches?

13 what? You could fit 10 DMU cars in and the front one would be sitting proud of the signal...

I would say summer, unless of course if there are 'operational' reasons for sticking a diesel on the back.

North Wales Coast Express in August, and on a hot day too, had the box. Why?
