34007's visit to the NYMR was called off because the loco wasn't considered fit for the job by the person who examined it. Plain and simple.

Given that the tender was only intended to be with the loco for a short period of time, its hardly surprising its showing its age. The tender tank was virtually completed and work started on the underframe when the MHRPS acquired its controlling interest in the loco over 2 years ago; hardly make do and mend.

Nick, your comment has been taken out of context in my opinion as you have quoted only half of my posting.

    Just my opinion.

That's fair enough Chris, just wanted to make the point that the tender has outseen what was the original hire period.

Presumably the MHR did conduct some repairs on it following the fire, but again on a limited basis given the intention for it to return to Boscastle? I wouldn't know myself, only seen the thing once since it left Bodmin, and that was at the WSR.

I note that the goods train advertised with the U-Boat has been taken off the website.

I can only assume that the "U",s tender will not be ready in time?

No news from the Bluebell on 1618,s tender, however 31806,s tender is now in the old shed.

Not sure what is happening here.

    Chris,

That's quite a rake! Must be one of the most impressive BR era rakes in preservation now?! There'a been a few additions to the consist since I last saw it earlier in the year, so looking forward to seeing it in action again soon. How many are you intending to eventually build the rake up to in total?

We can go up to 22, but next year we are going to split it as there is a strong leaning to have a van train to give some variety.

We will also be attaching CT/PMV,s to service trains too as by the spring there will be 2 x wooden CCT,s and 1 x PMV restored to traffic, as of course they would have been circa 1950,s/1960,s.

Presently we are working on a PMV, a Tube wagon,a Conflat A and a vanfit that is being converted to a insulated meat van which will be out shopped in white livery.

    Hope this info helps?

Can i ask why the tender that was sent after 34007 has not been finished as originally planned from the Bodmin and Wenford? I understand the current tender has to go back to be alongside Boscastle. Even though they will have to make a repair to the hole. So why use 35005's tender?

I do not know the answer to that one Andy, maybe you could go to Ropley shed and ask yourself about the tender?

35005,s tender is being used obviously because 34007,s tender is not ready.

Thanks for the reply Chris. Certainly interesting prospects ahead. The idea of having a PMV or CCT attached to the back of a short passenger train sounds really appealing -would look great in BR livery with a couple of BR green coaches and either the U or WC. Also two or three of the PMVs/CCts and a few box vans would create a rather nice parcels train.

    Keep up the good work!

    Cheers,

One reason is the ongoing procurement of parts now that new B.F.B. wheels are being cast for 34007's tender, these in turn will require machineing, tyres and axles. In addition there is then the small matter of 6 axleboxes.
