The Wickham of Ware Yahoo! Group (http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/WickhamofWare) is currently co-ordinating a national campaign to identify all railway vehicles built by D Wickham & Co. Ltd that survive in the UK.

As part of this exercise, if a particular vehicle is felt to be in a very poor condition / out of use then efforts are being made to contact the current owners with a view to ascertaining their plans for the vehicle. If the owners are looking to find a new home / owner for the vehicle then the Group is helping them in finding a suitable new home.

This campaign has already had a number of successes with a number of Wickham Trolleys moving to new owners who are already actively restoring them for future use.

If anyone is interested in taking on restoration project and offering a Wickham trolley a new home then please join the Group and contact me. The really are an ideal project for an individual or a small team and can be very useful to a preserved railway.

    Thanks

    Jonathan

I have been asked to find buyers / new homes for a number of Type 27 Wickham Trolleys including one 3'0" gauge example.

None of these are serviceable and all are either incomplete or dismantled but all could be put back into working order with a little bit of work.

If anyone is interested, please contact me via the Wickham of Ware Yahoo! Group.

    Thanks

    Jonathan

There are a pair of Wickham trolleys at the MHR one is serviceable and I don't think the other trolley runs? But managed to photograph the serviceable one today near Ropley.

Ps What type of wickham is this?

That is a Type 18A Mk VI - Works No. 10707 of 1974. Originally fitted with a Ford 2712E Diesel Engine.

I may be able to find a home for one at Mangapps Museum in Burnham. John Jolley loves this sort of stuff but I dont think he one of these in his collection.
How much money are we talking about for one of the standard gauge trolleys?

There are a couple of Type 27 Wickham Trolleys currently for sale.

Both are non-runners and require restoration. They appear mechanically complete but are missing some electrical items.

Please contact me if you are interested.

    Thanks

The value has gone up in recent times but I would suggest £2,000 for a Type 27 requiring restoration and more for a runner.

There is a Type 17A Trolley for sale currently. It is missing its engine and would require some other restoration work. Please contact me directly and I will provide details.
