some great photos posted here but it makes me think, do gc crews really have to hang so far out the cabs whenever they see photographers? what are they loco crews or models?!

 

Well, had a great weekend down at the Great Central yet again, was very good going along with one of our home engines and support crewing Morayshire, hope you enjoy the time she'll spend down there with you

Does that mean Morayshire's stopping for a reasonable lenght of time.....?

 

Very nice photographs Mark. I must have been standing quite close to you at Woodthorpe in the afternoon. I was the guy with the
video camera and heavy tripod. Such wonderful clear conditions in the evening .....certainly better than when I arrived at 9am. <BJ>

There really is no pleasing some people.

I bet that's a great reward and thanks for the countless guys who are there at the crack of dawn prepping and still there late at night disposing of the locos. If I was one of them I'd bare my a**e out the cab next time I passed Kinchley lane - or Rushey Lane - whatever.

Personally, I'm just honoured to have witnessed such a fine spectacle again at the weekend and can only offer my thanks to all the GCR staff - whether in the offices, stations, boxes, buffet or crewing the locos - who made it happen.

Thanks for your time guys, some of us really appreciate it.

 

And what would everyone else who has said nothing of done to deserve that ?, don't tar the majority with the brush of the few outspoken.

Morayshire is due to stay at the GCR until mid November, where it will then return back up here to Bo'ness as standby for the Santa specials season, after that, she's due for maintenance until spring.

 

After spending all 3 days at this very enjoyable gala, I've finally got all of my video's uploaded to Youtube. Internet connection kept playing up, disconnecting part way through uploading, meaning having to start over! Typical! Anyhow, it was indeed a cracking gala, highlights for me being the D49 on the TPO drops & little Joem working away on the lengthy Windcutter rake. Here's the video links:

Also, does anyone know what happened to the N2 over the weekend? I understand it had failed for whatever reason (hence the reason 4953 "Pitchford Hall" was out instead on the Sunday), but I never did find out why).

I see the 71000 is scheduled to be running on this Saturday (16th). Any of the other visitors from the gala due to be running too such as 246?

I'm hoping to visit, possibly combining with seeing 6233's last run. Any info much appreciated!

 

Read elsewhere that 246 is due to stay until the end of November. Don't know if she is running this weekend though.

 

GCR newsletter says it has/had a faulty whistle.

Should be ok for the visit to Bitton at the end of the month then?
