    Mystery solved then.

It's interesting that on the Wikipedia link to 92207 the text suggests that circa. £100K has been spent on the restoration of the loco to date. Now, that sum isn't going to do the full job, granted, but if that figure is true then there has obviously been significant progress in terms of part acquisitions or bottom end work. Perhaps the project has progressed further than the 'visible' evidence of the loco at Shillingstone suggests.

92207 is historically utterly appropriate for the line, but in all likelyhood will be too big to be economical to run there anytime soon. Even to light the thing up would cost more than to run a small tank engine fo a day, which I imagine would be more appropriate to the line's immediate operational aims.

The restoration of the 9F does give the Shillingstone project a point of focus, and something to aspire to if nothing else. In the future it would be something to see the loco running (even symbolically on a short running line) at Shillingstone.

Just my 'take' on the situation though - I'm sure those involved with 92207 and/or Shillinsgtone will be able to give a more accurate overview of what's happening.

You've pretty much covered the main points there; even in its current state the 9F is an attraction, notwithstanding the recent acquisition of over half a mile of track and the 'Magic Mile' appeal, Shillingstone is some way off being a natural running area for a 9F. A tank engine is on the way but with planning for the 'Shillingstone 150' celebrations in 2013 under way, who knows what we might see that year (but I'm straying from the thread).
£100,000 for the bottom end is the figure I heard too.
