60007 was roughly 15-20mins mins down off her water stop at Holme this morning. Here's a shot of her accelerating away towards Peterborough. The exhaust and beat of the locomotive in the crisp morning air was quite something to be witnessed. MT

I understanding the tour might be coming back an hour early. Note 'might'!

Good video. Nice that they used a like coloured diesel to the coaches. And the smoke was used really well to cover the diesel on the 'going away' shot . Well thought out !!! (only joking)

Passed me a few minutes after I sent this but by then my fingers were too cold to type. Cracking sound recording though. :)

Excellent video Alisdair. She looked to be going well there.
...and a stunning picture by Simon. Can't begin to imagine loosing an opportunity like that to being bowled out!

My effort from this morning is at: http://www.inthetoplink.fotopic.net/p68348391.html
Sadly very dull, but she looked and sounded fantastic nonetheless, so it made it totally worthwhile.

Thanks for the comments on the video - I don't usually take videos, but took the camera in the unlikely event the A4 stopped (as 60019 did a few weeks earlier!).... I had to go for the 'platform side' angle, as the charters can get routed on either side of the island, but would have preferred to have been on the other platform getting the full shot of the wheels..... there was a major speed restriction on that line until about 17:00, so was lucky that it didn't have to slow.... :)

The video was shot in HD on my DSLR (Canon 7D), using the built-in microphone, but thankfully there was very little wind noise on the approach; then resized to 640x480 and uploaded to Youtube

    Thanks again,
    Alisdair

All the more impressive, I'd previously dismissed video on DSLR's as gimmicks, not now.

The chime in the distance, the gloom just magic! :thumb:

To be honest, it is still slightly a 'gimmick' (IMHO), as there is no ability to continually auto-focus during the shoot (well, not that I have found yet), so you have to set your focus point and stick with it..... the image quality (esp in daylight) is absolutely superb, but I wouldn't buy a DSLR to use as a camcorder, given the focus issues.....

    Thx,
    Alisdair
