3x NRM 4-4-0s haven't been done before, but 3x 4-4-0s was one of the attractions of SSS2 at Llangollen in April 2009 with 246, 3440 and 9017.

9017 entered service in 2003 and 3440 in 2004, so i guess 2013 and 2014 respectively!!

The only trouble with using the farm crossing at Wanders curve is it’s adjacent to private land on both sides of the railway. Most people that use this crossing are under the impression it’s a public right of way. Unless the farm is willing to allow photographers to gain access to the crossing. The crossing isn't accessible to anyone. One other point who is going to police the zone all weekend. I can’t see to many people coming forward to run this idea? There would be a H&S issue to consider and possible training issue also to consider. You can’t just rope off an area and tell someone to get on with policing the area. A good idea but impractical I’m afraid.

so there is a real chance then of having 4 x 4-4-0,s together time to get planning then, lets see, 30120, 3440, 9017, 926 , with 2 of these likily to be going out of ticket soon afterwards ,it would be a one off chance to do this

Is there a timetable/loco roster available in advance for the gala, advance tickets are available on the website, no sign of a timetable though....

Timetables are usually available within a week of the gala, keep an eye on the website

Another reason to attend this years Spring gala will be to see 73096 before her boiler ticket expires some time around July according to Tim Beere on the MHR letters page.

Time table is now available on the MHR web site. Looking at the time table there is a good mix of different combinations to see with double heading and a rake of vans out and plus all the other combos. Can’t wait to see the King on a rake of vans. Has this combo been done before?

For those that have a look at the posted time table and intend to photograph from the lineside rather than travel please take note of the Photography Announcement at the bottom of the timetable.This also applies to the sheep field on Chawton Bank.

Could you quote a URL please. The sheep field on Chawton Bank is private property and the farmer is quite the most obnoxious man I have ever met. I once asked him for permission to enter his field and I certainly wouldn't want to meet him again.

Agreed, really appreciate that, big thumbs up to the MHR. I think we're all bright enough to know that things might change in two months and there could be a few tweaks before that weekend, but having a basic heads up on what's out when makes planning travel a lot easier - and therefore makes it far more likely we'll go to this event. A far cry from the same line's approach to its diesel gala roster a couple of years ago, the change of policy is very welcome and appreciated.

I agree too. Seeing the t/t so far in advance gives me more time to plan/ponder and ultimately significantly increases the likelyhood that I'll attend. Just hope that there isn't the need for much in the way of changes between now and then.

Well let's be honest, as we all know unforeseen circumstances can force a change at any time - the ELR published their timetable earlier this week, just a few days before the gala, and have had to alter it. So it's certainly a breath of fresh air to see this worry take a back seat in favour of giving the information out early!

Just a note to those who have already printed out the WTT. It's now changed with all of the visitors now facing Alton due to 6024 being scheduled to arrive Tender-first from the ML. Also note 34007 is not running as she requires a fair bit of work (see the latest news update on the 34007 site http://www.wadebridge34007.co.uk/news.html ). One of the mags says that she is rostered for the gala!

I didn't think 34007 Wadebridge was down to run on the gala. Great to see almost all the locos will now be facing smoke box out of Alresford.

Unfortunately the swap round of locos facing out of Alresford has lead to more double heading for some reason with the Dukedog and Truro now always double heading on the previous timetable they ran alone on some trains. You dont see many 42xx double heading a King ! ...... well lets hope the passengers turn up and make it a good one .
One thought to look forward to may be a DNS Gala when 76017 returns . Truro and the Dukedog can return again for that as well !
