Here's my video of the trip at several locations during the day, including both runs through Reading:

No problem, having a few free texts certainly helps!

Good day out yesturday with some fast running despite the coal not being ideal, Reading taken non stops in both directions and racing a HST through Twyford being the days highlights for me.

My pictures from the day can be found here for anyone interested: http://david1984.fotopic.net/c1923466.html

5043 looked and sounded superb at Paddington, where I took a selection of shots:

Old and New: http://aa.photosnaps.org.uk/p68401957.html (HST driver taking a shot from the cab!)

Ready for the off on the 1620 to Birmingham: http://aa.photosnaps.org.uk/p68401958.html

There are a few more in the same collection here: http://aa.photosnaps.org.uk/new

    Thanks for looking

    Excellent shot Stephen.

It's amazing to think that the HST sets are older than 5043 was when withdrawn in 1963, yet still look the part and are one of the best means of travelling on the modern railway.

Excellent selection of shots Steve. Liked the arrival at Paddington with the kid looking up in awe at 5043. I wonder if he will get the steam bug?

Great pictures and videos from everyone of this run. I somehow managed to miss it on the listings page probably due to having a VERY bad day at work on Friday. Otherwise I would have seen this run.

Many thanks for that shot horace. I was hoping someone on that bridge would be a member on here.
We ran alongside each other for three or four miles and judging by the looks on the passengers faces on the HST they enjoyed it as much as we did.
Once again many thanks to the linesiders for venturing out in what was a comparative heatwave after the recent cold weather!!!!

    Yet another excellent video.

After all the recent discussion should we be asking if the 37 was getting any assistance on the starts with the ecs from the steam loco on the back?

Some nice shots posted already and a beautifully turned out loco - well done to all.

I went to see 5043 at Heyford

    http://d1059.fotopic.net/p68404306.html

Running a couple of minutes down - just as well, if it had been on time the canal side would have been awash with a group of about 50 ramblers

Would have been fantastic if the sun had been out - oh well at least I got the rods up :)

Another triumph for Vintage Trains and for 5043. Moor St. station looks superb. A video taken from the parallel HST for those three or four miles would have been something else.

Heres my video. It shows the arrival and departure from Moor St in the morning, 5043 hammering through Lapworth on the outward leg, then stopping and restarting from Warwick Parkway at the bottom of Hatton bank before finishing off back at Moor St.

If the video doesn't work heres a link instead! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6AVUBmuT44

    Hello Steve,

Nice to see your video of 5043 going through Reading. A great reminder. Pity I can't show my still fots, but ever since BT erroneously cut off our phone and broadband I have no access to my Fotopic site. They tell me that I cannot have the broadband back until next Monday, by which time my pictures will be history! Quite why it takes so long to re-connect someone cut off by accident is a mystery; they told me it was an OFCOM regulation!

Fortunately, we are visiting our daughter today so I have been able to borrow their computer and can at least see your film and other people's pix and videos. Eventually, you'll be able to see my shots of 5043 passing through Reading; hope you think that they are worth the wait!

    Ron.
