Nice to see a GWR tank in the Premier lines colour. Swindon's finest product, Stanier, would have approved....

    Lovely pic.

I have to admit 1501 will be a tasty visitor whatever the livery, I can feel a Pannier Tank gala coming on for 2012. On the wish list accompanying 1501 are 9466, 1369 and a 57xx, they would make a nice noise up the bank. I suppose I really should get 2011 out of the way first. Plans for the gala are developing with some exiting firsts for our railway. We hope to turn the PBR galas into a showcase of what we can do on our railway, if we can get the enthusiasts into the area this pushes our case with funders and the council to prove that the Heritage Railway Market is alive and well.

as I keep saying - Watch this space...

I hope the coal tank will be on the list for a future gala on a LNWR line? Just a shame it isn't likely to stay in BR livery long as it would look very nice with the Supper D.

The coal tank is very much on the wants list as is the super D.

Do you think the SVR would notice if 1501 was returned to them in red rather than black???

Well, Someone else brought up the Premier Line, Not Me! And... They spelt it with a capital P!

I personally don't mind what colour it turns up in, as long as it turns up!

    Regards,
    Ian

It was me that used the capital P and corrected myself....and I don't think it will be turning up in any colour any time soon.

Following a conversion with the Big Pit - National Mining Museum of Wales, we will be working in partnership with the pit for our gala, this opens up alls sorts of opportunities including access to the two locomotives on static display plus a few more exiting editions - and its free entry. Not may railways can boast a 'working' museum with real underground tours at the end of the branch. This partnership increases the draw for making a weekend of it.

    More to follow.

Yesterday we set up a meeting with Big Pit Museum for next week to discuss ideas for the gala weekend, we are also hoping to involve the World Heritage Centre in to town.

This gala is beginning to sound very interesting.

Joining up the PBR track on their new branch with the Big Pit trackwork would increase the photo charter opportunities (if not the track gangs workload) and i feel enhance the Big Pit experience..

Sir Gomer and Mardy Monster, sounds like a good idea! I am just waiting for final transport quotes before I announce the line-up, I want to be sure we come within budget rather than being ticked off by the board again!

The Gala will be a celebration of South Wales Industrial Superpower. It should be one to remember as the sound of these locos resound up and down the Valley once again.
