Yesterday channel (Sky 537, freeview channel 12) 2.00 and repeated at 10.00pm; "The last days of steam".
The synopsis suggests the programme will show the years 1948 - 68.

Thanks for this. I think it is the programme that was shown on BBC4 when they had a season of Railway related programmes in 2008? Not bad if it is the same one.

It's either Std 5 73050 or 73129 as both were used for the film (73050 at the NVR and 73129 was used at Pinewood studios IIRC) Have a look at this:http://expotales.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

73050 was used for all 'running'/operational scenes, filmed on the NVR using the Belgian express coaches. A false platform and station frontage ('Istanbul') was constructed at Ferry Meadows station - I was one of those that helped salvage the film makers plywood for use on the railway afterwards (nothing is wasted!)

73129 is the loco stuck in the substantial snowdrift, along with our SNCB coaches. The snowdrift scenes were filmed at Black Park in Buckinghamshire (adjacent to Pinewood studios, and also used for the Harry Potter films amongst others) because NVR could not spare 73050 which was needed for services. Two of our loco crew members were cast as the driver and fireman, one of whom occasionally posts on this forum I believe.
