I just went past Tyseley Loco Works and there was a green single wheel 2-2-2 running around.

It didn't have boiler casings on, but it was definitely in steam.

    Anyone have any more info?

    Bloomer for the mainline?

Where would you put the TPWS?

I hope you're right - always wondered why Tyseley haven't pushed this project recently. It will be an interesting addition to the ranks of working locomotives.

They seem to be concentrating on mainline engines - COULD the Bloomer go mainline???

The Bloomer isn't intended to go mainline

Would be great to see it running.....I didn't know it was close but it did benefit from a Grant a couple of years ago.

It has been under construction for over 20 years!

If it was the bloomer, and to be frank, I can't see what else it might be, its made fantastic progress since the October 24th Open day, when it was photgraphed sans Driving wheelset, chimney, pipework, boiler fittings, smokebox door etc etc etc - much the same state as when I last saw it in 2005ish. Fair play to the Tyseley crew for *seriously* getting on with it!

Yes ,An interesting addition to the steam fleet. I know we cant do anything about it now, apart from build replica's of appropriate engines, but i've always thought the 19th C engines were seriously unrepresented(for obvious reasons) & forgotten about. Some elegant & beautiful designs there.
We tend to forget there was a railway history before 1948!

Be fair, I think the cutoff point is more like 1930!

Be nice to see this one, visited Tyseley when I was very little in the early 90s and got a 'Bloomer' badge, been waiting to see it running for years!

Hopefully it won't be long before someone posts up some YouTube footage ? Assuming some was taken that is.

It would certainly make a nice addition to the roster at a Victorian steam gala.
