No 1 moves from Waterloo to Southall tomorrow evening. Interesting convoy according to uksteam. http://uksteam.info/tours/t11/t0105p.htm. See how long it takes to get from Waterloo to Kensington!

It must be down to the loco's age, seem to recall it was a long slow move last time when she went in to Waterloo. Might be the only chance to chase a steam engine in London - could probably beat it to every station on the route.

that or the fact 08s are limited to 15mph if you want the traction motors to be usable after the move!

Found this video of the move to Waterloo earlier this year on youtube. Also a link to some interesting footage of No 1 running on the GCR in the 80s on the right side.

Is 21.40 a misprint should it be 22.40? It can't take 1h20m to do 3.5 miles, thats an average of 2.5mph!

Thanks for posting the YouTube link - it's my bit of footage and I was going to post the link but completely forgot!! Was lucky enough to have prepped the train that day so knew of the move.

As for tonight - they left Waterloo on time and got a good road - reported past Olympia without stopping just around 22:10ish. Well early....
