Ive often wondered what kind of plans for a station at Honeybourne the GWR have. I can see they are probably distracted at the moment by their immediate problems, but it would be interesting to learn what kind of vision they have for a station there. Im hoping they may eventually try to build something akin to the one that was demolished. In an ideal world Badminton would make a good candidate....

I wonder how hard would it be for the GWR at the time of relaying into Honeybourne to also relay into Long Marston Depot. If there is room presumably it would make sense to do a a lot of the locomotive work there?

Good luck to those gents moving to Sharpness. There clearly is much potential here, and Ill look forward to seeing whats achieved.

sjbarratt many thanks for the updates regarding the Long Marston (S&BRS) Group and your rolling stock etc.

As I said in an earlier post, I used to be a member myself many years ago and visited Long Marston on a few occasions. It is intersting how things have turned out with the Long Marston site and its rail link to Honeybourne which is now quite busy with rail stock storage and other businesses which have protected the Long Marston site to some extent but not perhaps in thw way some preservationists had planned - the lack of access except for open days being one example. Other issues, like the long overdue redoubling of the Oxford-Worcester line at Honeybourne and the intentions of the GWSR to still have a link to Honeybourne from the south (which I think will still happen despite mother nature and the recession giving us a bloody nose) have changed things somewhat. As for the future of the Long Marston Collection at Sharpness, well, I would recommend a "very long spoon" myself especially given the current financial situation which, from what I read and hear, is going to get much worse before it gets better and heritage railways will be no exception. I guess now is the time to hold on to your dreams!
