Looks great to me, especially no brake on the coal train and two NCB engines working it. Only downsides I can see are no coal trains out of East Tanfield and I can not be there! Hope you have a good one and will be up at some point this year.

It does seem that a fair amount of effort's gone into this event, it'd be a huge shame if people didn't bother visiting based on the weather forecast... And from experience, Tanfield has its own micro-climate anyway! The last few times I've been, the weather over Marley Hill's been a world away from the weather in Gateshead!

    Well thats Gateshead for you...

Today has seen our latest waggon 225M to be added to the collection, it has been dragged out of the woodworking shed and shunted into place now for the weekend.

Just a word of warning though...don't touch it, the paint might still be wet!

I think I have managed to upload a picture...

Me and Simon got a good soaking on the Saturday morning of the legends gala at East Tanfield; while at home (down the hill in Ch le St there had been no rain at all!!); so the micro climate certainly works; lets hope it is a reverse of that this weekend.

Hope it all comes off for you guys. Was going to come up after the warm welcome I got at last year's Coal Train Day but due to various reasons had to cancel. I will make it up some point this year though, and if you do a second event like this I would do my best to get there. Its great to see something different from the Run Passenger trains mentality of some galas.

225M was built by the Standard Railway Wagon Co in the 1950s for the NCB's Northumberland Area. It was originally a 10 plank 19T hopper but was cut down to 6 planks when it was transferred to the Harton system in Co Durham to work beneath the staiths there. Its the latter condition its been restored to. We finished the lettering etc about half an hour ago!

Thanks Mark. I wondered why it only had 6 planks!

Hope the weekend was a success. I have heard some positive comments.

A post on North East Gen group had Cochrane failed with leaking tubes on the Sunday; is this the same problem that saw it miss the Sunday of the gala in September?

    Hope it isn't too serious?
