The Severn Valley Railway Association publishes monthly a digest of online news items taken from various sources including the SVRA unofficial forum and websites of groups associated with the Railway.

This is now available to all via the SVRA page on the Bridgnorth Station website http://www.bridgnorthstation.co.uk/7.html.

I like looking at these - a good way of keeping up with news you might miss.

Ever thought of linking in a photography section to it? There are a few of us (myself and Lewis Maddox at least) that put shots online on the railway fairly regularly.

They have posted photography links in the past . For those on FLickr there is also an SVR group which really should be promoted further

Thanks all - glad you find it useful.

I have, the difficulty is tracking down all those that do it (and there are a lot!) and relating them to the various items, without just giving a list of links to sites of which some are not very navigable. I'm open to suggestions: I'm away for a week - perhaps you could give some thought as to how it might best be done and email me patrick.hearn[spamtrapAT]virgindotnet, or PM me here or on the SVR forum? All contributions gratefully received

Quick recommendation for you and others publishing information on the web to help blind and visioin-impaired users - please try to avoid using 'click here' for links, and make sure that links are descriptive.

    Eg

    August timetable

    Is much better than

The gist being that blind users use software to read web pages aloud. They read links first, so will often hear 10 or more 'click here's which are more or less useless. There's loads of little techniques like this that will make your information more inclusive.

    Cheers,
    Simon

    Thanks Simon

Can you point me at any more of the little techniques to which you refer?

    Thanks

The electronic version of the September web round up is now online at the SVRA website at http://www.svr-association.org.uk/Web Round up 09_2011.pdf and includes links to sources

It will also be published on the Bridgnorth station website at http://www.bridgnorthstation.co.uk/7.html.

    One update:

SVRA Railtour... A steam hauled rail tour provisionally penned in for October was mentioned in SVR News magazine number 172, page 4, and also the WMNL of May 2011. Unfortunately due to timetable planning issues the tour will not take place on this occasion. Please watch the SVRA website for further announcements.
